Well hello there friends. Despite the humid weather in Boston, today was quite nice. I was finally able to get in touch with some students to schedule counseling times, so next week I will be seeing lots of students! And, tomorrow is an easy day because I’m am going off-site to asses an out-of-district case with my supervisor.
I made some extra spaghetti last night to bring to work for something different today. I usually get excited to have pasta because it’s a bit more satisfying than a sandwich or salad, but this lunch left me feeling a bit hungry. I dug into some pretzels and an apple to hold me over until I could drink a beer!!
Matt is the chapter president of the young alumni association for my college, so he organized the Welcome to Boston event this evening. Matt and I were obviously the first ones to show up at the bar…along with a visitor from Charlotte. Hi Ryan!
I started with an Imperial Octoberfest by Avery Brewing Co. This is the Pum-King of Octoberfest beers!!! Very strong and flavorful.
We had a cheese plate and a platter of vegetable quesadillas. Both were delicious, but required quite a few lactase enzymes. I really don’t think I have a problem with lactose because I LOVE cheese and feel completely fine right now.
I had a great time chatting with other alumni and had some interesting conversations over the course of the evening. I also ordered a Great Pumpkin Ale from Cambridge Brewing Co, a local brewpub that also has amazing food. This was a nicely balanced pumpkin beer, as it had a strong pumpkin flavor but a light body.
Ryan took over the bar with a little karaoke. I may have joined him for a few songs:) ‘Part of Your World’ was dedicated to all of my college roommates…
T’was an awesome night. I need to get out on week nights more often! I just had a bowl of yogurt with cereal (because cheese isn’t the best of dinners) and now I need some sleep to get through the final day of the work week.
