The nor’easter is here! A friend and I drove out to Framingham this morning for the bullying conference. Luckily, we were traveling against traffic and it didn’t take too long.
The conference was awesome and I’m glad I decided to go kind of last-minute. The director of the department of safe and drug-free schools gave a very witty and powerful speech on the effects of bullying and he made me want to go into educational policy. The other speakers were informative as well.
Loved the warm rolls that were served, but the greens were boring. Salads without cheese are pointless in my book.
I know the organizers were trying to make lunch kind of fancy, but I actually would have preferred a simple sandwich. Given my reaction to chicken with skin on Sunday, I chose to avoid this chicken in an attempt to prevent another night spent with stomach pains. A few bites of dry-chicken is not worth ruining a Friday night.
The good news is that there were chocolate-less desserts to make up for my small lunch! Although that guy looks like a chocolate-chip cookie, it is actually a carrot-cake sandwich with a fabulous cream cheese icing. I’m guessing the other guy was a key-lime cheesecake. I also enjoyed a few bites of apple pie.
I was excited to emerge from the dark, cold cave of the conference room to find the rain clearing up!
Upon returning to the city, I spent 30 lovely minutes climbing stairs but the rained returned while I was in the gym. Given that my birthday festivities will be taking place next week and weekend, the plan was to stay in and conserve funds this evening. However, a friend of Matt’s invited us out for drinks last-minute, so I’m heading out the door.
Happy [fashion] Friday!!!
