So, where did I leave off?
Oh yes, a gourmet breakfast after an extra hour of sleep on Sunday!!!
Breakfast at our inn started off with a simple baked pear and I chose the oven baked pancake as my entree, which wasn’t exactly what I expected…
it was so much more!!! I’m still really not sure what this was, but it tasted like a thick piece of sweet dough cooked in some kind of egg custard with warm pears and powdered sugar. It was quite different and superb.
I rounded out breakfast with half of a chocolate eclair.
With a belly full of sweet delights, Matt and I went on a hike dressed to the nines in layers of sweaters and sweatshirts. Lauren gave me the idea of hiking to the top of Monument Mountain in Great Barrington, which was a really beautiful climb.
The view from the top was absolutely awesome, but it was too chilly to stay at the windy peak for long.
After the descent, Matt and I walked around Great Barrington and peeked in some shops.
These made me think of Kath, as camel crickets and onions are two of her very favorite things:)
After a morning spent in the cold outdoors, I was more than ready to be warmed up with a beer, so we ducked into the Barrington Brewery. The brewery operates out of an old barn and they use solar power to brew beer…how cool is that?
I sampled the Scottish ale, Brown Bear stout, Barrington Brown, Raspberry Ale, and the Hopland Pale Ale. I actually enjoyed all of them, but the stout and the brown were my favorites.
Lunch was a roasted red peppery veggie burger and sweet potato fries.
This burger & fry (well, the healthier version) + beer combo is one of my very favorite meals and it was a great way to end a perfect mini-cation!

It was back to work and spinning today and back to the rainy weather we’ve been having a lot of this fall.
Tomorrow is my allergy testing, so keep your fingers crossed that I don’t have any food allergies.
Nighty Nite.

November 9, 2010 at 6:44 amGreat mini vacation! I’m glad you took the hike up Monument Mountain – but I agree that it is quite chilly at the top this time of year. I wish we had known about the Barrington Brewery during our trip. Looks like a cool place.
I am SO sick of this rain we’ve been having. Fingers crossed for sunshine… and no food allergies ;).
