After work today, I headed to Matt’s holiday party at the office. I really didn’t feel like getting un-dressed to go to the gym and then showering and getting dressed and re-doing hair and makeup all over again, so I decided a walk would be the better option today. I ended up walking from my apt to Matt’s office downtown, which is no big deal in the summer (~3 miles), but this was an accomplishment in the cold temps. To be honest though, I warmed up pretty quickly and it was actually quite pleasant. I arrived a little late, so the food was a bit cold, but it still tasted pretty good.
I made a plate of shrimp, mac + cheese, pulled pork, a veggie dumpling, and some kind of chicken guy on a stick.
The pulled pork and shrimp were the best, so I went back for seconds…
I also enjoyed two Dogfish head’s over the course of the evening. I’ve had the Raison D’Etre before (and love it), but I believe this was my first time trying the Indian Brown Ale. I wasn’t a huge fan (because I’m not as into hoppy beers). I also wasn’t really feeling alcohol tonight, so I didn’t even finish the second one.
What’s a Christmas party without sweets?
The cookie was blah (too hard)…
and the carrot cake and mini key lime were only satisfactory. I’m such a dessert snob.
I really enjoyed chatting with Matt’s co-workers…I always find the people at his company so interesting! I’m pooped tonight and I don’t even know if I have the energy to pack a lunch for tomorrow. Off I go. Good night:)

December 16, 2010 at 10:50 pmUgh. There’s nothing more disappointing than mediocre desserts, especially at the holidays. I’ve been known to scrape frosting off of dry cake and just enjoy “the good part.”
No shame, lady.

December 17, 2010 at 8:45 amAny Christmas party that serves Dogfish Head is the kind I want to be at! Have you been watching Brewmasters? It’s pretty fascinating! We went to their brewpub in Delaware this summer and gah their beers are so good.

December 17, 2010 at 8:50 amHmm, you might be able to watch it online. Try this website http://www.clicker.com/tv/brew-masters/ or google “Watch Brewmasters.” If worse comes to worse, you could catch some clips on YouTube!
I fee ya though, I watch very little TV so I’m suprised I’ve caught this!

December 17, 2010 at 9:35 amThe one beer that I can’t handle is the IPA. I find it just disgusting. Especially when they start doubling or tripling!
