Today was the life…
I slept till 8:30 and had oatmeal on the couch while watching the news. I got a ton of job stuff done this morning and then ran a leisurely 4 miles on the treadmill while watching the snow fall.
I enjoyed a warm working lunch with Matt (the Habanero wrap is stuffed with ham, spinach, and buffalo cheddar)
And I worked on a psych report while sipping a mini beer this afternoon. Matt and I finished working for the day around 4 and decided to go see The King’s Speech to get out of the house (Thanks, Mom!) I found the movie fascinating, as it combined history, speech pathology, and psychotherapy. It was a little slow at parts, but that’s just what I was looking for on a slow, snowy afternoon.
We ducked into one of the few places downtown that looked open: Flash’s Cocktails. I had a vegetable soup topped with mozzarella and lots of fun pieces of mushrooms, squash, and beans.
and a salad topped with roasted butternut squash, goat, cranberries, and pumpkin seeds. The butternut chunks were awesome, but I got a bit tired of the white romaine wedges (I’m a spinach salad person).
After dinner, I met up with my friend Lizzie, who was visiting Boston on a business trip. I had an unpictured glass of Shiraz over pleasant conversation and then called it a night. My it was nice to enjoy a beautifully balanced day in the middle of the work week! I’m back at it tomorrow….

January 13, 2011 at 9:44 amGlad you liked the movie! I have no idea how the speech pathologist came up with some of his techniques and why they worked. Do you?

January 13, 2011 at 1:14 pmI think the physical therapy was based on speech mechanics, but the rest was psychotherapy to deal with the deeper issues….

January 13, 2011 at 1:11 pmSo is the wrap itself a habanero wrap? There’s something delicious sounding about the word itself, mmm!

January 13, 2011 at 1:12 pmYup, the wrap is spicy so almost anything you put inside is extra flavorful!

January 13, 2011 at 9:22 pmI am dying to see that movie! Colin (…cause I’m on a first name basis with him) did an interview on NPR discussing how deeply he had to get into character to play that part. I’ve already been hearing Oscar buzz! Your day looks quite relaxing 🙂
