I may have a new favorite restaurant in Boston…
Matt and I ventured to the new Back Bay restaurant Lolita for drinks and apps last night, and I loved it! The space is dark and swanky with exposed brick and red lighting. We hung out around the bar for a while before snagging a seat. I sipped on a glass of white sangria flavored with vanilla vodka, peaches, and pineapple.
The chips and salsa spread was awesome! I believe these are complimentary if you sit at a table, but we paid $4 for this huge bucket since we were sitting at the bar. All three dips were delish: salsa verde, chipotle crema, and a smoky tomato salsa.
We chose two items from the appetizer menu for our dinner. While they weren’t cheap per say, they were less expensive than the $20-$25 entrees. First up was the lobster enchilada, which was my favorite of the two. There were huge chunks of lobster floating in a rich, cream sauce and the tortillas was stuffed with more lobster and peppers.
Dos Equis is my favorite of the Mexican beers and it was awesome with the spicy food. Whenever I drink Mexican beers, it always takes me to another place…I almost forgot I was in freezing Boston during my dinner…
Our second item was the blackened mahi tacos. These were a little plain, but totally awesome covered in our three dips!
The dessert menu was mind-blowing, but we decided to abstain since we’re going on vacation this week. But, we WILL be back to eat again because I’m obsessed with the food and the atmosphere.

Today, I woke up with a bit of a sore throat and I was in a weird mood. I did a lot of sitting around before finally hitting up the gym for a very gentle 30 mins on the elliptical. Matt and I spent the rest of the day strolling in and out of stores. And now I’m about to make veggie burgers and fries before the Duke game. I’ve got two days at home to work on a few things before we leave for our trip Tuesday evening….SO excited to just sit around.
Any news in the blog world?

February 22, 2011 at 1:40 pmWhen I saw that sangria, I just had to! doesn’t the place remind you of a cross between kat von dee and jack the pumpkin king!? Consider trying the bacon guac next time – bizarre but it works. Have fun in San Fran! I recommend making a trip to Sausilto and, if you have time, an afternoon in Berkeley! Talk to you when you return – fly safe!
