Good evening,
Anything exciting happen this weekend?
If you guessed that I ate and drank my way through the weekend, you’d be correct! I also laughed, a lot. You see, Kath gave Matt a gift card to a local comedy club for his birthday and we cashed it in last night for two tickets to see a visiting comedian. Matt was playing soccer yesterday afternoon, so we didn’t have a whole lot of time to grab dinner before the show downtown, so we decided to duck into one of the authentic pizza places in Boston’s North End to grab a calzone and a slice. Unfortunately, our order took a long time and we were left with only ten minutes to eat! One bite of this mushroom and mozzarella calzone though, and I didn’t really mind having to scarf down dinner because this was to-die-for. Either we’ve been eating too healthy or the Italians just know their stuff because this was seriously the best thing I’ve had in weeks (duh, cheese + dough).
Despite the appearance, this slice was actually delicious as well.
We took the last bites with us on our walk over to the comedy club. I enjoyed a whiskey sour during show.
The two opening acts were actually more hilarious than the headliner. I’m more into witty humor than dirty jokes, and one of the guys just had me smiling from ear to ear. The only other time I’ve been to a comedy show was on a cruise ship, so it was a really fun experience and a nice change of pace.

Sunday brunch with friends was also a nice change of pace. I went straight to the gym this morning and did some quick stair climbing before meeting our friend
Ryan and his girlfriend at Gaslight in the South End. Though I wasn’t planning to indulge, I just
had to try Pretty Things’ spring brew: Fluffy White Rabbits. I mean, who can resist a beer named after floppy bunnies? But, seriously, this is a tripel, one of favorite styles of beer, and it was dense and creamy. Mmmmm. Would you believe that’s a 10 oz pour?
My meal did not disappoint either. Doesn’t it look more like a dessert? Think ice cream in chocolate sauce. I ordered the poached eggs over wheat toast with mushrooms and tasso ham in a red wine sauce (per the recommendation of our waiter).
Oh man, not only was this fabulous, but it was unlike anything I’ve ever had before. Sometimes I get tired of seeing the same scrambles and french toast combos on brunch menus, so I absolutely loved having something different today. Hit.the.spot.
Matt and I spent the afternoon shopping and running errands, which left our feet aching from walking all day. Though the temperatures reached into the 50’s today, the wind was brutal and my core was frozen. Matt solved the problem though, by burying me under all the laundry fresh out of the dryer. Besides the sauna, this is one of my favorite warming methods.
Time for laundry folding. k bye.
