Dare I say spring has arrived? It’s nothing like NC, but it did reach 60 today and the world came out of hiding. I’m actually sitting outside in an adirondack chair on campus, though I’m wearing both a sweatshirt and a sweater and I’m wrapped in a towel just to stay warm.
The weekend was pleasant. Friday, I was lucky enough to taste the brand new Peak Organic Belgian before it’s officially released (I didn’t quite understand why this was happening, but that’s what the bartender said). Needless to say, the beer was phenomenal. It was probably one of the thickest Belgian’s I’ve ever had….you can’t even see through the glass! I took my sweet time sipping this baby.
Oh, and I actually enjoyed this Israeli lager, despite it being a lot blander than what I’m used to.
Saturday, I went to spinning first thing in the morning so that I could spend the majority of my day writing at Starbucks. I’m thrilled to say I’m 99% finished with my very last case study. My final graduate class is tomorrow night and I’m getting so close to being a free woman. Graduation is in T minus 26 days.
After a long day on the computer, a nut brown ale was welcomed with open arms. We met Lauren and Evan at the Otherside Cafe and I started with a Sixpoint Brownstone. This was my ideal nut brown.
Dinner was a pressed Greek sandwich: feta, spinach, pesto, and tomatoes on soft ciabatta. My sandwich totally exceeded expectations. T’was perfect!
Our group headed over to Kings for some old fashioned bowling. After my first experience with candlepins a few months ago, I was so happy to bowl with the big balls again. It’s so much easier, although I think I still came in last place on most of the frames. Beer and bowling is a favorite pastime of mine, so I had a blast despite my score.
I’m about to hit up Whole Foods and then make a fun Sunday dinner. One more week until spring break #2!
Ciao.
PS: the girl sitting across from me is eating packets of sugar in the raw. I remember when I used to do that. Strange.

April 10, 2011 at 6:07 pmHoly cow that Belgian is thick! It seriously looks like carrot juice or something. I bet it was good!
I stuck to my current favorite this weekend: Southern Tier’s Gemini. Holy alcohol content, holy price tag ($7!) but I’m in love with it.
Glad you had springy weather this weekend! It’s 85 degrees here (in St. Louis) and I’m sweating!

April 10, 2011 at 6:28 pmI love your beer reviews! I’m from Wisconsin. We love our beer here too!!
I had to smile to myself. A 60 degree spring day here means shorts & flip flops! When you are used to long winters at below zero, 60 degrees is a heat wave. 🙂
