Hi y’all,
How it’s going out there?
We had a tough week (colds, molars, Matt traveling) followed by a fabulous weekend.
Friday was our typical pizza and wine night. We switched things up by using pesto as the base instead of red sauce (although we used a thin layer of red sauce too), and I thought the pizza was one of the best we’ve ever made. It also had parmesan and mozzarella, chicken sausage, and a blend of mushrooms sautéed in butter. I’ve also discovered the most amazing olives at a nearby grocery store, and I ventured into Friday’s snow because I just had to have them! We had red blend from Winc and really enjoyed it.
Saturday was our productive day of the weekend. I went to a glass at the Y while Matt played with Emerson and then we switched and Matt went out on a long run. Unfortunely, Matt had to work all afternoon, so I just hung out during nap time and enjoyed mindless scrolling, a long shower, and booking flights for a spring trip home to NC.
We took Emerson to the park on Saturday evening and then headed to Building on Bond and had the best dinner date with baby in tow. The restaurant is the cutest little neighborhood bar and, along with cocktails, we enjoyed [gf!!] fried chicken wings, seared kale, and a big ole’ meatball sandwich with fries. We ended the evening with ice cream and a Duke basketball victory:)
We ventured into Manhattan on Sunday morning, hoping for a little sunshine to enjoy pastries in Central Park. It was colder than we expected with the wind and no sun made an appearance:( We ended up walking for about an hour before hopping back on the subway and just eating the quiche we picked up from Noglu at home. The hour on the subway was totally worth it just for the treats at Noglu – it’s a completely gluten free french bakery with all the classics. In addition to the quiche, we tried an amazing, flaky croissant, a bread pudding muffin, and a raspberry rugelach that tasted like a toasted pop tart. I’m obsessed.
We rounded out the weekend with some cleaning, another quick trip to the park, and mediterranean take-out before giving up on the Oscars when our tv steaming plan didn’t work.
And now we’re back to our weekly routine, but only until Thursday – my parents are visiting for a long weekend and I’m excited to have some company.
PS: Are there any topics y’all are interested in reading about? I’m enjoying posting more often, but would love some feedback about what people like!

March 5, 2018 at 9:34 pmHi! Sounds like a fun weekend! Some topics that I would love to read more about: how you’re adapting to life in NY; how did you make friends as an adult in a new place; fun things to do in your area; how you meal plan; how the cost of living (groceries, movies, babysitters, housing, etc.) of NY compares with TX or other places you’ve lived; tips/resources for travel planning; etc.

March 6, 2018 at 11:59 am+1 to making friends as an adult! We are moving to a new city next month with our 18 month old and I am nervous about making new mom friends. Would also love to hear about toddler meal ideas, how you fit in exercise, etc.

March 7, 2018 at 12:02 amI would love to read posts about what your workout routine is like, what you did for work in TX and whether you think you will return to it in NY, how budgeting is going in your new home, your meals and recipes weekly, how you cope with a husband who travels occasionally for work and works long hours (a reality my husband also faces) and day in the life style posts 🙂

March 7, 2018 at 1:25 pmGreat ideas! As for what I did for work in TX – I was a learning specialist at a K-8 Episcopal School. I supported all of our students with learning differences – it was an amazing job and probably one that won’t be easy to find again:(
