You guys are amazing – thanks for all your support!
I had such a fun weekend with my parents in town. Matt was on a much-needed guys weekend with his dad, so my mom and dad came to visit me Emerson. She was so quiet and shy when they first arrived, but quickly warmed up when Grammie brought this giant beanie baby out of her suitcase.
We did a little shopping for spring clothes for Emerson at the Gap Outlet – they were having the best sale with an additional 40% off already marked down clothing, and we found so many cute dresses and tops! Can’t wait for it to warm up around here.
We also went for a walk along the promenade but it was so cold and the wind was making Emerson cry when it hit her cheeks. We were happy to stay home and get cozy with a bottle of wine, and I made a light crockpot dinner of lemon chicken with carrots and rice.
We had to save room for my parents’ epic trip to Mia’s bakery – we all love sweets and they may have gone a bit overboard when they saw the selection:)
Saturday morning we ventured over to the Fort Green farmer’s market for morning pastries + playground time, and to meet up with one of my Davidson friends. We ended up staying much longer than expected and were frozen yet again. We decided to cancel plans to go walk on the high line in Manhattan and stay warm inside. My mom babysat while I got some much-needed hair color, and then we had dinner at Jolie Cantina. We had the best meal at this adorable Mexican-French fusion restaurant.
We had a giant bowl of guac, margaritas, and then my mom and I split a lobster and cod curry that was awesome. I’ll definitely be going back, as the menu had so may unique options.
Yesterday was finally sunny and a bit warmer! We took Em to toddler time at the Y, and then I got a glorious foot massage at one of those reflexology places during nap time. Can’t wait to go back with Matt! We enjoyed the sunshine by walking to Dumbo and exploring the waterfront a bit before taking Emerson on the carousel. This was her second time visiting, and she was super serious – it’s like she thinks she needs to be so focused to ride the horse and she has this intense expression on her face. It’s so cute.
Last night we ordered Indian food and waited for Matt to come home, and today, I said goodbye to everyone:( It was so quiet here, and I think Emerson was a bit bored without Grammie and Grandpop doting on her.
I’m sad the fun is over, but I’m really hoping spring will come to visit next.

March 13, 2018 at 12:09 amAh I hate when my parents leave after visiting. I am a sahm to a 19 month old with a firefighter husband so it’s so nice to have other adults around, giving your baby attention, and allowing you a moment. When they leave it feels so quiet.

March 13, 2018 at 10:30 amAnd it takes me a few days to recover from leaving Emmie or my grandson Mazen. My mom told me that years ago and now I get it.

March 14, 2018 at 8:59 pmYes. Just dig around on ebay. I bought three giant ones by mistake. Also got a lion and a purple hippo.

March 15, 2018 at 9:03 amHow were the desserts from Mia’s? Planning a trip to NYC/Brooklyn for the fall and want to know if they’re worth stopping for some treats?

March 15, 2018 at 12:21 pmThey were solid, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to go there – so many other great bakeries in Manhattan that are probably worth visiting (I only know about the gluten free ones, so can’t recommend any specific ones unless you are in search of gf treats!)
