7:10 – I hear Emerson whining and call Matt to see if he can get her. He does and they read books for 10 minutes before he brings her to me in bed. We roll around for a while, and I’m embarrassed to admit, we watch my Instagram stories together and look for dogs.
7:35 – We get up, and I realize Emerson is soaked – her diaper is somehow unhooked so I change her diaper and put her in dry clothes before we have breakfast.
7:50 – I cut up bananas for Emerson and drizzle peanut butter on top, microwave oatmeal and water for tea, and then we eat together at the kitchen table. I let her eat plain yogurt and she makes a mess! She’s getting better with the spoon though.
8:20 – We play with toys in the living room while I decide what we should do. I check the weather but it’s in the 30’s with winds of 15MPH, so we def. aren’t going to a playground.
8:40 – Our best option is toddler gym down at the YMCA, so I throw on workout clothes and brush my teeth so that we can get there when it starts at 9.
9:05 – Emerson has a blast chasing balls and crawling in the tunnels at toddler time.
9:50 – I want to take Emerson for a walk, but the wind is just too strong and she cries right away, so we go back in.
10:00 – I give Emerson some Cheerios, mop the floors, put in some laundry, straighten up the toys, and entertain baby girl in between chores.
10:45 – Em’s getting cranky, so I decide to give her an early lunch and I snack on chips and hummus. I start with quinoa mixed with hummus and salmon because she loved this combo last night. She doesn’t each much, so I give her old faithful avocado and pear with chickpeas and milk. I really don’t want to use nap time to do a workout video, so I try something new and pull the high chair around. I turn on the video while she’s eating lunch. She loves watching and imitating me, but she still doesn’t each much.
11:20 – I pause the video to clean her up and let her run around while I finish. I smell a big, wet poop and wonder if her stomach is upset. I change her and do my physical therapy exercises to kill some time before her nap can begin.
12:15 – We read books and I put Emerson down for her nap.
12:30 – I race to the shower so I can wash my hair. I straighten up the kitchen, and make myself an everything-but-the-kitchen-sink salad.
Quinoa, arugula, chickpeas, avocado, rotisserie chicken, sweet potato chip crumbs, olive oil + honey drizzle
1:00 – I relax on the couch and look for an Air b&b to rent for Easter weekend.
1:50 – I hear Emerson crying, but she doesn’t go back to sleep like she usually does around the two hour mark. I check the monitor and catch her brushing her teeth, and know there’s no chance she’ll go back to sleep.
2:00 – We snuggle for a bit. I give her goat cheese slices and dry my hair. I check the weather again, but it’s still 30’s and windy. So, I dig around in my email for a free trial to a music class, and it just happens to be Wednesday at 3:30!!! I quickly get us dressed for the cold and set out on the 30 minute walk (I should have just gone to the playground with this commute!)
3:30 – The class is super cute and she has a wonderful time running around and playing with instruments.
4:15 – I chat with a friend on the walk home.
5:15 – The afternoon has passed so quickly and it’s already time for dinner. I pre-heat the oven and chop a sweet potato.
5:30 – I give Emerson black beans, broccoli, grapes, and sweet potatoes and she eats them at record speed, so I make her an open-faced peanut butter and apricot jam sandwich too.
6:00 – I eat grapes, and some goat cheese and crackers. Matt texts that he’ll be home at 7, so I open a cider from the farmer’s market to celebrate. I give Emerson a bath and let her run around in her diaper waiting for dada to come home.
7:05 – He’s home and we’re both excited. We put on her pajamas and brush her teeth while enjoying the cider.
7:35 – Matt puts Emerson to bed while I relax.
8:00 – I assemble dinner, which is mostly ready, and fry two eggs to go on top.
Black beans, roasted sweet potatoes, salsa, eggs, avocado
8:30 – We clean up our plates and sit down on the couch for computer time.
9:45 – We talk about my Air b&b discoveries.
10:30 – We get ready for bed and read our books.
11:00- Hopefully, I go to sleep, but I won’t know until after I’ve published this post:) It was a great day!!

March 15, 2018 at 1:31 pmIt sounds like you are making the best of the chilly NYC early spring days. There is Darius Rucker song called “It won’t be like this for long” that I always think about when things are going a little rough. Enjoy your little one and all the glorious time you get to spend together!

March 15, 2018 at 8:48 pmShe is a cutie! I paused the This Is Us finale just to read about her. Glad the music class went well. Hope you can go again.
