Hello, and happy polar vortex week. I hope you guys are staying warm out there.
Matt and I had a really low-key weekend, as we were both dealing with colds that were just dragging on and left us feeling tired.
We did manage to eat some Mexican food (spices are good for colds, right?) at Supernica. This might be a new favorite, especially since the salsa is some of the best I’ve had. And the kids meals come with popsicles, so Emerson was over the moon.
We also had some friends and their kids over for a pizza party, which I’ve decided is the new way to entertain. They brought beer and salad, I ordered pizza and made blondies, and it was so easy and relaxing.
We’ve also been taking lots of walks and discovered a little neighborhood smoothie shop. This is the prefect weekend activity for us!
On Monday, we were back at it. And that means a little work for me too! I’ve always missed my job and the community at my school in Dallas, so I was thrilled when they contacted me about doing some contract work for the remainder of the school year. I just got started this week, and I’m excited to be using my brain in a different way. I’ll be talking to local schools and researching social/emotional curricula to try to find something that might fit with the school’s culture and positive discipline system (which I helped to create back in 2015). By the way, if any of you work in a school that uses a social/emotional curriculum, I’d love to chat or email to pick your brain.
T minus 1.5 days until the worst month (sorry, January) is over!
