Yesterday’s weather got me so excited for fall. It’s one of the best times to travel because the weather is picture perfect almost anywhere. We obviously won’t be leaveing Charlotte this fall, but these are a few places I’d love to visit in Autumn.
Hilton Head Island, SC
I mentioned in my trip recap that we’d love to go back to Hilton Head when the temperatures are cooler and the crowds have died down. The beaches are giant and beautiful and perfect for bike riding. And if it’s too cold for the beach, there’s lots of good food, shopping, bike paths, and kid-friendly activities, like parks, mini golf, and even a children’s museum.

Nantucket, MA
I haven’t been to Nantucket in a few years, but I know from our time in Boston that it’s one of my favorite places to visit. We actually looked into it for a baby moon but the prices are absurd in the summer – which is why it’s a perfect place to visit in the fall. The town is lovely and full of adorable shops and restaurants and there are lots of cozy inn’s and hotels that would make for a perfect romantic getaway.
Jellystone Park Glamping (NC Mountains)
I read about this place on a local blog, Carolina Charm, and it looks awesome for kids! While I’m not cut out for camping (you know, because of bugs, sleeping on the ground, and using the bathroom outside in the middle of the night), I can get on board a cozy cabin nestled in the mountains. I think this would be such a fun experience for Emerson.

St. Augustine, FL
This historic Spanish town has been on my list for years, and I’m hoping we can make it there now that we live a bit closer. I’ve heard it’s walkable, full of old world charm, and has tons of restaurants all set along the water. Plus, the beach is right there – Aside from hurricanes, you can enjoy beach weather/swimming well into the fall months.
Amsterdam
I don’t know if it’s because I’ve been remincing about Matt’s birthday here or wondering if we’ll ever be fortunate enough [and brave enough] to take two kids to Europe, but I’ve been dreaming about Amsterdam lately. Strolls along the canals, cozy patios with Belgian beer, fresh seafood in warm broth on chilly nights, or packing a picnic and biking to a park – sounds like perfection to me and I’m sure it’s gorgeous in the fall.
What are you all planning for fall?

July 12, 2019 at 11:56 amWe’re going to India this fall! We’re going to a friend’s wedding in Delhi and then going to Agra (where the Taj Mahal is) and Jaipur. I’m so excited to explore a new part of the world but also a little nervous to leave my two kiddos at home. I know they’ll have a great time with grandparents but it’s always tough to leave. This felt like a once in a lifetime opportunity though, so felt like we couldn’t pass it up! And I didn’t want to take 2 kids on a 14+ hour flight. Ha!

July 12, 2019 at 1:27 pmHi Laura! I’ll be in Cabo in September for a girls long weekend trip then NYC in October to visit friends in Brooklyn. Thanksgiving will be in Palm Springs and Colorado (Palm Springs is an excellent late autumn destination). Then the Big Island over the winter break. I feel so lucky to have so many wonderful trips to look forward to! 🙂
My fall destination list is so different than yours because of our coastal distance. When I lived on the East coast we had lots of friends that loved to vacation in Hilton Head. I’ve never been to Amsterdam, but that is high on my list for European travel.
