Grammie’s Here + Sprinkle for Baby A

Pregnancy Weekends

I can finally relax a bit, both because Grammie is here to take care of Emerson when I go to the hospital, and because I have an entertainer + another set of hands to help with everything. After a hard week of toddler challenges (flu shot + a cold + constipation + sleep issues made for the perfect storm), I put my feet up on Friday night! My mom put Em to bed, and  Matt made us two tasty pizzas – pesto, turkey pepperoni, fresh mozzarella, arugula on one and red sauce, chicken sausage, pepperjack on the other!

Saturday, my new and old Charlotte friends gathered for a small brunch to sprinkle the babe. I probably should have bought/rented a dress because nothing fits!!  My dress was super short, but I’m hoping no one noticed:)

We enjoyed good food at Napa on Providence and conversation and cake, of course!

The cake was from Sunflower Baking Co. and was so dense and delicious and buttery.

I’m so thankful to have a small tribe here in Charlotte already who took the time to celebrate baby A with me!

I was pretty tired afterwards, but my mom offered to babysit Saturday night, and since you never know when it might be your last date night, Matt and I headed out. There was a soccer game at Davidson (Matt played in college), so we ventured up to Cornelius for dinner on the lake before the game.

It was our first time at Hello Sailor and we loved the laid back 70’s vibe and lake views. We sat outside and caught the sunset and felt like we were on vacation!

I had a spicy mint julep mocktail,  and we shared a peach and mint appetizer, crab dip, arugula salad, and a baby back rib + fried shrimp (for Matt) platter.

We caught the second half of the game and sadly, Davidson lost. The bleachers weren’t the ideal place to spent an hour, but Matt was in heaven being back at the stadium and it was really nice night to be outside.

We ended up rushing home when my mom said Emerson was refusing bed and crying about an earache.  She seems better today, so fingers crossed it was just the cold she had over the weekend and not another ear infection (we would be headed towards tubes).  I wasn’t able to get her to bed until almost 10:30 and then was up with terrible cramps on Saturday night, so Sunday morning wasn’t that fun for anyone.  But we made the best of it with pumpkin oatmeal, a family walk, and lots of lounging on the couch.  And Matt & I even snuck out to see the Downton Abbey movie during nap time on Sunday afternoon (I spent the whole movie trying to keep my eyes open, ha).  Then we made Mediterranean  salmon bowls for dinner, ate more cake, and went to bed super early!  Hoping for lots more rest this week in preparation for the big event!

It should be at the top of the sidebar – it wasn’t working for a while, but I’m hoping it’s fixed now.

don’t be afraid of tubes! My son got them at about 16 months since we got ear infe4ctions each month. It was the easiest/quickest procedure. The wake up a little cranky and then after a good nap, its like nothing happened. I wish I had done it earlier!
