We had a big weekend over here! Well, Emerson did – I mostly sat on the couch:) Friday, Emerson and a classmate celebrated their birthdays (both the 12th!) at school with a donut party. Parents aren’t allowed to attend, but Em was full of energy when she got home from school and was eager to tell us all about it. She was super wound up and skipped her nap, making for a cranky Friday night. We took a family walk around the block, put Em down early, and then ordered pizza for dinner.
Saturday morning, Emerson was up early and I kept sleeping after a rough night with Avery (up from 3-6am). Matt put sprinkles in her yogurt, and we sang to her and let her open a present once I was up. Then, she was off to her friend’s big party at a neat park about 45 minutes away. The park has both a train and a carousel, and Matt reported that she had a blast with her friends. We are going to have an ice cream party for her in a couple of weeks – I was wondering if she’d be sad not to have a party this weekend, but she didn’t seem to notice (I think she thought her friend’s party was a joint party for her, since they shared a party at school).
After a long nap, we Facetimed with grandparents and my sister who had sent gifts! I asked Em if she could have anything for her birthday dinner, what it would be, and she said ravioli and broccoli – I’ll take it! Matt & I ordered nachos:)
Emerson said her favorite gift was the suitcase we got her (she’s been asking for one all year), and has been pretending to go on trips all weekend.
We surprised her with a small cake and she was giddy and just kept saying ‘it’s my birthday’ while we sang to her.
She actually didn’t eat much cake, but mom and dad sure enjoyed it!
Meanwhile, baby A slept the whole day, only waking up to eat and have her diaper changed:)
Needless to say, it was a busy and fun weekend! I can’t believe I have TWO children and one of them is 3 years old! Here’s hoping I can keep up with these two in the year to come.

What a delicious looking cake! The pink frosting with the candles is so sweet!

Is it an Italian cream cake? Yum!
Sounds like all is well! You are already a wonderful mother of two sweethearts!
