Hello out there,
Finding time to blog has gotten a bit more difficult:) As you can imagine, I’m finding myself with a lot less free time these days. Matt was off or working from home for the first three weeks, so last week was my first week solo. Emerson has calmed down from the excitement of Avery’s birth a bit, and the week went pretty well overall. I’m so thankful that Emerson goes to preschool three days a week so that I can have some time with Avery/rest time/time for household tasks. Keeping Em entertained, fed, and well-rested is pretty much the hardest part right now.
Avery has started sleeping longer stretches at night (4-5 hours), so I don’t feel as exhausted as I did in those first three weeks. I’m still having a hard time getting her back to sleep after eating because she’s always uncomfortable with burping or hiccups. Also, the pooping has slowed down from like 6 dirty diapers per night to 1 or 2, so that’s a major win as well!
Between Matt cooking for us and friends bringing us meals, I haven’t had to cook much until this week. We are doing Blossoming Kitchen for 2-3 meals for the next month or so, and then I’m trying to plan for dinners that are pretty easy/fast. For example, I discovered a great stir fry kit with a delicous sweet garlic sauce at Whole Foods that I made with pan-friend salmon last night. I need to figure out some more healthy snacks because I’m starting to become ravenous with breastfeeding and some days I’m turning to peanut butter too often because I feel like I have nothing else to eat in between meals.
I’ve been able to resume a normal walking pace and it’s felt really good to get outside with the stroller and walk a bit. I have my first pelvic floor PT appointment this week and then my 6 week appointment the following week, and I’m pretty excited to add some more movement back into my life.
We attended our neighborhood Halloween parade/trick or treating and then had dinner and drinks with friends afterwards. Matt gave Avery her first bottle and I enjoyed a second drink:) I haven’t been pumping yet, but have been able to get a decent amount of milk with this milk saver from the side Avery is not nursing from.
And that’s what’s been going on over here! Matt’s mom is coming down to meet Avery and help out this week, so I’m looking forward to another little break!

November 5, 2019 at 9:09 amMy daughter is 18 months old now and newborn feeding feels a long time ago, but man do I remember the hunger! I ate soooo much peanut butter between meals too – like an entire jar per week.
Your daughters are lovely, and your new addition makes me miss the new baby days so much! Hope you are enjoying them 🙂
