Anyone else glad that January is ending? It’s been a weird month! After I started turning a corner and feeling better from mono, I got hit with a cold (that maybe was worse because of the mono?) and then had a day with a terrible migraine. Fingers crossed, today was the first day in almost A MONTH that I feel normal and ready to go! It’s been so weird not having energy because there have been times (mostly Emerson acting out or the girls needing me) when I’d normally just jump into action but my body literally couldn’t respond like it usually does. Almost like the adrenaline didn’t work? Not feeling well for so long really affected my mood, but putting things into perspective has helped – being sick sure makes you feel for people with chronic health problems or those who might never feel better.
And Avery slept through the night! She has still been eating once between 2-4, and last night, she slept until 6! She must have been tired because after I fed her, she went back to sleep until 9am! Avery is having a big mental leap right now as she’s become really interested in toys, is making a lot of new sounds, and is trying to move around when we put her on the floor. She also had her first bad cold – the doctor thought it was croup because of the barking sound she was making, but luckily, it never really turned into a cough and she recovered in a few days.
She’s growing and changing SO fast!
I was hoping to get back into working out in January since I was just cleared for exercise before Christmas. With Matt home, I had visions of going to awesome classes all around town. Sadly, that didn’t happen and I’ve only done a yoga class and a couple of easy home workouts. I had to save my energy just to get through the day. But, we did eat tons of plants and it has made me feel really good. Matt got us two weeks of GreenChef and I think it’s the best meal delivery/cooking service we’ve done yet. All the sauces are awesome! And I love that they have so many veggie options that taste incredible.
As much as I’m sad to see Matt go back to work, it will be nice to get into a routine again. Emerson has been challenging this month with being afraid to sleep and acting out a little more than the previous months. Matt did lots of fun things with her, which has been great, but it meant that she was spending less time with me. I know she really needs attention from me right now and I think she enjoys days at home with me when Matt’s at work. So that’ll be one positive of him going back. I also signed her up for soccer and swimming lessons starting this spring so that she has a few more activities. I’m finding she is so much more physical at 3 versus 2 and she really needs movement more than ever. If there’s one thing I’ve learned about this mom-ing thing, it’s that kids & routines are constantly changing, and just when you get comfortable, there will be a new challenge. Here’s hoping I’ll have a bit more energy in February to tackle the challenges!
What’s new with you guys?

January 30, 2020 at 8:48 pmI’ve wondered about Green Chef. Which meal plans did you do – Plant Powered or another?

January 30, 2020 at 8:56 pmI’m not sure because my husband set up the account – but everything we ordered was gluten-free. Last week’s meals were all vegetarian and this week we got seafood and pork.

January 30, 2020 at 9:24 pmIs Emerson in preschool? I want to sign my son up for a sport of some sort (he’s Emerson’s age), but I find it’s so hard to find time to do anything between him having preschool 3 days a week and just juggling nap schedules for him and his 9 month old sister. Agh!

February 5, 2020 at 2:51 pmYeah – 3 days/week. It’s hard – this will be our first year doing soccer because it’s finally at a time we can make.
