Hello out there!
It’s been a while since I’ve just written about life – we are taking it day to day over here. I’m so thankful some of my neighborhood friends put together themes with craft ideas and activities for the kids!
We did ocean week, Earth week, and space week thus far, and it’s given us a little bit of structure to our days. We’ve also been taking daily walks and I’m kind of dreading the heat of July + August. Getting outside keeps us sane. I was hoping our park would open soon because even a quick ride on the swings would give us another activity, but it looks like we’ll be in Phase 2 for a bit longer.
Avery is crawling and pulling up now, so we’re in that phase where I can really never look away from her. I’ve found so many things in her mouth already! It’s so different than when Emerson was crawling because we now have toys everywhere (and a lot more crumbs).
Avery’s favorite thing in our house is my fig tree and we’ve failed at our attempts to barricade her from it. She’ll do an a-line across the room and grab a big fist full of dirt to put in her mouth. I ordered some big river rocks from Amazon and I’m hoping that may help. She’s adorable in this stage and Emerson is having a blast with Avery now that she is mobile.
We’ve been enjoying our patio and have been ordering all kinds of takeout to try and make the weekend nights feel special. With music playing and the twinkling lights turned on, it *almost* feels like a date night out at a restaurant. I’m not opposed to trying an outdoor restaurant, but just really don’t think it would be relaxing with two kids if we are constantly worried about people around us.
I’m super excited for Matt’s parents to come visit. We haven’t seen them since Christmas!! We’ll be celebrating Matt’s birthday on Friday and then having a good old fashioned backyard 4th of July this year. I’m thinking of setting up the pool for Emerson and ordering some bbq, but that’s about all we have planned. All the fireworks were cancelled here , but I may try and source some sprinklers. I hope y’all have a great holiday weekend! I would love to hear how you’re celebrating and maybe it will give me some ideas.
