We’ve been in our house 3 months now and are making slow progress on decor – it feels like there’s no time for house stuff with the kiddos, but I tell myself that we will be here a long time and don’t have to be ‘finished’ any time soon.
Emerson’s room never looks this clean, ha. We did a wallpaper accent wall in her room with some old Serena & Lily wallpaper I got on clearance last year. I hope to replace the light fixture eventually. She saw the wall and said it was the most beautiful room she’d ever seen:)
Everything in our bedroom worked perfectly in so we didn’t need to buy anything! We finally hung a picture over the fireplace and I need to figure out if we want a wallpaper wall in here or some artwork over the bed.
A friend is going to help me style the shelves because that’s not a skill of mine. I’m having a hard time finding a wool 9×12 rug for this space that isn’t thousands of dollars, works with the ottoman, and can handle two kids and a cat. What do you think?
We did order a larger couch to go in the living room and it’s supposed to arrive tomorrow!!! I can’t wait until we can all fit on the couch again.
I wanted to wallpaper the powder room since it’s such a small space and I knew I could do something funky. We used the Serena & Lily Granada paper and I LOVE how it turned out! I’d be ok if my whole house looked like the catalogue:)
The next thing on my list is to figure out what to do with this light fixture. Some people have told me to spray paint it, but I think it’s too big/heavy for the space and would love something more intricate and soft.
I’m so happy to be here and settled!

November 22, 2021 at 1:29 pmYou home looks amazing and the wallpaper is gorgeous. I love house stuff and seeing different ideas/decor/stying. Rug recommendation – I love our ruggable. They have a ton of great patterns and colors. As someone who owns vintage wool rugs , I prefer the ruggable. It’s affordable, t looks great, is washable, and once you buy the base you can get different rug covers. Tip- buy the thicker pad – it makes the rug more luxurious and is worth the extra money. Also they have wonderful customer service.

November 22, 2021 at 5:15 pmI recommend spending the money if you can for a nice, big wool rug for your main living space- we spent about 8k for ours which almost made me pass out at the time but 7 years and 3 kids later- I’m so glad we did. It has held up beautifully (oriental design helps too), doesn’t shed, so soft. Also I refuse to buy anything poly in general (for both health and sustainability reasons) so that narrows the choices!

November 23, 2021 at 9:05 pmThanks! I don’t think we could go quite that high but I agree that a huge wool rug is what we need. I think I’m being too picky about the design/colors…

November 24, 2021 at 4:00 pmOne rug option would be to go to a carpet store and order a 9/12 carpet (or slightly larger), then have them bind it for you so it looks more like a rug. That way you can pick the exact pattern and size that you want.
