Thoughts from a Thursday

Life Ramblings

Is anyone else so happy shorts season is over? I’m not a fan and am so much more comfortable in jeans. I’m so excited – I ordered Green Piñata Toys (so cool) for Emerson’s birthday as well as a funfetti cake from Milk Bar!! I’ve had some dysplastic moles in the past, so I went for my 6 month check up today. Can I just say that having someone examine every inch of my body under a bright light is more uncomfortable…

Emerson the Flower Girl

Travel Weekends

Hello and happy fall!!  It was 60 degrees outside when we went to the park this morning, and quite chilly in comparison to the Texas temps we had this weekend. We traveled to Dallas for a close college friend’s wedding. It was our first time back since moving and made me happy and sad all at the same time. We went straight from the airport to a play date at a friend’s house.  She had tacos from the amazing Velvet…

Simple Pleasures

Life Ramblings

I was inspired by Cup of Jo’s simple pleasures post to come up with my own list of little things that make me giddy. It’s interesting to me that as my life and world become more complex, these things become even simpler. Similar to practicing gratitude, I think taking time to appreciate and engage in the little things that make you happy can really add up. Any day that’s sunny and 70’s The squeals generated by Emerson when Matt walks…

This & That

Ramblings

Hey there, Happy Monday.  How’s it going out there? I’ve worrying about the hurricane in NC.  It’s affecting soo many people and I can’t believe how bad the flooding is, even away from the coast. Bald Head is mostly underwater at the moment and no one has been able to get over there to check on my parents’ house.  I’ve been thinking about all those impacted by the storm and hope things improve soon! I donated to Blueprint, but here’s…

4 Days in Lisbon

Travel

We’re home from Portugal, and it’s been fun reflecting on the trip these past few days. I like planning trips that have two different parts, so we headed to Lisbon after the beach portion of our trip.  Although I would have loved to stay at the Pine Cliffs the whole time, we wanted to see some of the sights and experience a bit more Portuguese culture. We stopped in the town of Albufeira on our travel day, and after walking…

The Algarve

Travel

Hello! I’m popping in from Portugal to share a few photos from the first half of our trip. We’re staying at the amazing Pine Cliffs resort in the Algarve region, and have been blown away by this property! There were some mixed reviews when we researched, but we have loved everything about the resort. It’s one of the most peaceful places I’ve ever visited and the grounds are immaculate. Plus, the weather has been absolutely gorgeous. Emerson did well on…

Throw-in-a-Pan Veggie Curry

Cooking Food

I’ve received a bunch of requests for the veggie curry recipe I’m always making (I pretty much make this every Thursday), so here it is!  I usually wing-it, but I know many people prefer a formal recipe to follow.  I’m an impulsive, sloppy cook, and get annoyed with measuring; that is actually how this dish was born.  I think it evolved from an Indian Shrimp Curry recipe that I liked and adapted over time. Here’s what you’ll need for two…

Online Shopping: New Finds and Wants

Clothing Shopping

Hi y’all, How’s it going out there? Emerson skipped her nap today, so I took her out in the stroller to try to get her to fall asleep. Stroller naps are now the only time I can browse in stores anymore.  Em pretty much hates shopping, and I always feel guilty making her go with me unless it’s essentials from the grocery store or Target.  I got to thinking how I do almost all of my shopping online these days.…

The Beginning of the End

Brooklyn Weekends

Of summer that is. Anyone else tired after the weekend?  I feel like we’re rushing to cram all of the fun into these last few weeks of summer. My in-laws came to visit from Maryland, so we were out and about all weekend; we did a ton of walking. Before they arrived, I took the ferry to Manhattan to meet Matt on Friday.  We didn’t really have a plan, but ended up strolling to Tribeca and stumbling upon the 911…
