I had the pleasure of traveling to Charleston this weekend for my winter break! Matt and I met our good friends from Boston for a short getaway. While we picked Charleston because we thought it’d be warmish (soo cold for the south), we really wanted to go there to eat! Our friends love food as much as we do, so we did a lot of sharing! After lovely drinks on a heated roof deck called Stars, we headed to FIG…

I’ve lived in Dallas long enough now that I’m starting to repeat some of my favorite restaurants from my first year. Yet there are soo many new ones to try! Last weekend, I did a little of both. Matt and I stopped into the hip, new Remedy while we waited for a table across the street. The interior space was bright and clean, with the feel of upscale soda shop. We each ordered a cocktail, and then we couldn’t resist…
In addition to wine tasting in Mendoza, we spent our evenings walking around the quant city, exploring restaurants, and ringing in the new year! Most things were closed on new years day, and since it was our last day of vacation, we were happy to go running in the city park and relax by the pool. By the way, we stayed in the Park Hyatt. Although the rooms were basic and dated, I would recommend it for the service and…
After a few days in Buenos Aires, our Argentina adventure continued in Mendoza. Mendoza is a smaller city at the foothills of the Andes mountains, and it definitely felt more charming and welcoming than the big city vibe of BA. We had 3 full days in Mendoza, so we booked wine tours to 2 nearby wine regions: the Uco Valley and Lujan de Cuyo. Our first day was spent in the Uco Valley, about 1.5 hours from Mendoza. A note…
If you love to eat, get on the next plane to Argentina. I had some of the best food of my life in BA, and I was blown away by how consistent the restaurants were. In 9 nights, we had 8 phenomenal dinners. Perhaps the highlight of our time in BA was dinner at iLatina. I get a little obsessed with TripAdvsior ratings sometimes, and when I found this #1 rated restaurant, I knew I had to try it. I…
Relaxing on the roof deck and reading by the pool at our hotel – we stayed at The Palermo Tower in Palermo Hollywood Walking through a park in Recoleta while searching for ice cream – the parks in BA were beautiful The San Telmo market – we searched for leather, but it really wasn’t that cheap Two pieces from an awesome exhibit by Antonio Berni at the modern art museum The Recoleta Cemetery where Evita is buried One of the…
Matt and I spent nine days traveling through Argentina – five days in Buenos Aires, and then four in Mendoza. We arrived in BA early on Christmas Eve. I’m glad I did some research before the trip, because I discovered that most of the restaurants on my list would be closed for the Christmas holidays. Looking back, I’m actually happy this happened because I discovered Uco, a wonderful little restaurant at the Fierro Hotel in the Palmermo Soho neighborhood. All…
Hello! It’s been a while, my friends. I was sick the last week of school, so I spent a lot of time laying on the couch and not getting anything accomplished. I’m so thankful to have two weeks off for Christmas break! I finally felt normal-ish on Saturday and went to spinning, got a haircut, and went to a Christmas party with tamales. I love that that’s a thing here. I also watched The Giver. I remember loving the book…
As is tradition on Thursday nights, I’m just getting around to posting about last weekend. It was a nice weekend, but one of those where you have no idea where the time went. Friday, we stayed in and I made a giant lasagna to go with a lovely wine that we brought home from Sonoma. This is the first bottle we’ve had since the trip, and I’m already sad that one is gone. I’m one of those wine hoarders who…
