Thoughts from a Thursday

Life Ramblings

-I really, really love the Dallas restaurant scene – it’s fun and trendy and there’s always something new to try. I’m working my way through this list and have hit four thus far. -The weather is just crazy this year with temps going up and down all the time. Kinda scares me when I think about global changes. 80 yesterday, ice today. -It’s sad that Matt walks in the door from work and goes straight to his computer to go…

Feasting

Cooking Travel

Another Thanksgiving over:( I had a great time relaxing in Maryland!! It was chilly though – I lasted about 15 minutes playing cornhole on Thanksgiving day, and then snuggled under a blanket until dinner. I’m not very good anyway… Matt’s sis was dog sitting this guy and he was adorable!!!! Just look at that fur! We all sampled and shared lots and lots of beers! We had a traditional spread of food and I made another pumpkin pie. This dairy-free…

Spanish Feast

Travel

Hi! Happy eve of Thanksgiving. I’m writing from the plane, where I enjoyed a glass of merlot and a Whole Foods salad. I was in such a rush that I forgot the salad dressing though, so it was kinda gross. But the wine and all the food I’ll eat tomorrow will make up for it. We’re spending the holiday with Matt’s family outside of Annapolis and I’m pumped for four days of relaxation and family time, plus the Allens’ awesome…

Recap of Randomness

Cooking

It’s a dreary Monday here and we have a chance of winter weather! Exciting! I’m definitely getting into the holiday mood and I’m pumped to head to Matt’s house in Maryland for Thanksgiving. My jeans are getting a bit too tight though – I hate when that happens because then you know the damage is already done! Anyway, I lightened things up last week with two new meals – crockpot salsa chicken in the form of a taco salad and…

Memory Lane

Life Wedding

A little entertainment for your Wednesday morning… Jason Andre of Seven Season Films put together a GORGEOUS video of our wedding on Bald Head Island! We had debated hiring a videographer, and I can’t tell you how glad I am that we did. Jason was easy to work with and professional and the final product was worth every penny. It is fun to see the ceremony from our guests’ perspective and I’m thrilled to be able to relive that perfect…

Hot Weekend

Uncategorized

70 and sunny sure makes for a nice Monday! But, yesterday was HOT. I definitely don’t miss being covered in sweat when I get in the car. Despite the weather, the leaves are turning here! There’s no brilliant oranges, but I’ll take yellow. Last week flew by, and it was great having Matt home in time for dinner a few nights. Cooking highlights included these butternut squash tacos. Anyone have recommendations for warming corn tortillas? I can never get it…

Cold Recovery Through Food

Uncategorized

I’ve been recovering from a bad cold this week, so when Friday came around and I started to feel better, I was in the best mood! There’s nothing like being sick to make you appreciate being healthy. I didn’t want to do much on Friday, but hot broth sounded amazing, so Matt and I checked out a new ramen restaurant in Dallas called Tanoshii. I’m no ramen expert, so I have idea where Tanoshii falls on the spectrum in terms…

A Nantucket Wedding

Travel

We had a fabulous weekend in Nantucket! Matt was in the wedding party for one of his very best friends, so we made a long weekend out of the occasion and rented a house with some of the other groomsmen and their significant others. It was so fun being a guest at an island wedding after hosting one of my own. We arrived on Thursday to partake in Halloween festivities. The males were pandas, so naturally the females were panda…

Week Night Pleasures

Cooking Life Ramblings Travel

Happy hump. This week is flying by because it’s a short one! We’re traveling for yet another wedding this weekend! Plus, evenings have been really nice, as Matt has had a light workload and come home for dinner every night. It makes such a big difference to have a companion to dine with, and I do enjoy an after-dinner stroll. It’s still 80 here, btw. I made sweet potato enchiladas on Sunday and then broccoli with beef on Monday. We’re…
