It’s time for another update, aw this girl and been out in the world as long as she was growing in the womb! The most exciting thing is that Emerson started crawling just before her 9 month birthday! She’s moving all over the house and putting everything in her mouth. I don’t know how she can spot a small speck of dirt from across the room, but she’s been eating hairs, old crumbs, leaves, and other disgusting things that end…

Hi Friends, How’s it going? Here’s our 6 month update: We had some major regression this month – both with falling asleep for naps and staying asleep at night. The good news is, we’ve been doing some sleep training to help with the wake-ups, and Emerson has slept through the night (well, until 5am) a few nights in a row this week. While this is definitely something to celebrate, she did this back at 3 months, so it only feels…
Hello! How about a day in the life post? My non-work days look a lot different than they used to…but I love it. It’s funny how I remember playing house and playing with dolls when I was little, and this is always how I imagined my adult life. Emerson pretty consistently cries or wakes up around 5:30 or 6, but if I feed her or bring her in bed with me, I can usually get her to sleep until about…
Hi friends. I know it’s been a while! We had a fabulous Christmas down in Austin with our families, and a nice stay-cation once we got back. Then Emerson came down with a cold that got worse, and we had to spend some time in the hospital. It was just a common respiratory virus (RSV), but apparently it can be dangerous in little lungs and little noses. We were a bit surprised to be admitted to the hospital, and we…
We had a fun week of visitors last week – Matt’s sister was in town for work and got to meet Emerson for the first time, and my mom came back to visit towards the end of the week. We took Matt’s sister, Chelsea, out to dinner at one of our favorite restaurants – HG Supply. We always enjoy the bowls there, and I had my first cocktail since giving birth! Emmie loves to sleep in the Solly wrap, and…
Catch up on part I here. And so began the worst hour of my life. Good thing this story ends with the best moment of my life! I actually don’t remember much of this part of the story, either because the body is designed to forget the pain or because it was almost an out-of-body experience. The contractions were coming every 2 minutes or so and lasting 60-90 seconds, giving me very little time to recover in between. The best…
Without further adieu, my birth story! I apologize in advance for being a bit wordy. — At my 40 week appointment, my doctor decided to go ahead and get me on the schedule for an induction at 42 weeks. Unfortunately, there were already people scheduled and there was also a waiting list, so my only option was Wednesday, 10/12, which was exactly 41.5 weeks. I would’ve loved just one or two more days, because by induction day, I knew I…
Thank you all for your sweet comments and congratulations! We sure are proud parents 🙂 As you can imagine, there’s been a lot to adjust to in the past two weeks. I was surprised by how long the recovery took – I wasn’t expecting the nausea and intense pelvic pain. But, at the two week mark, I’m finally starting to feel like myself. We were beginning to get into a routine. However, Emerson had to have a procedure done for…
Emerson Grace Allen! Born last Wednesday, October 12th, at 12:41pm. She weighed 8lbs 5ozs and was 20.6 inches long. I’m turning 31 today, and she’s by far the best birthday gift I could have received. We’re celebrating with grandma and grandpa with a trip to the pediatrician, takeout and cake, and hopefully a waddle around the block. I have to give a shout out to Matt, who has been AMAZING this past week! We love little Emerson so much already!…
