Between 2 and 9 o’clock, I had tastes, sips, or pours of all of the following – handpicked by Matt’s mom based on my beer page and preferences. I LOVED them all!! Sooo spoiled:) The weather was so beautiful today; Matt and I went for a jog this morning and then we sat outside, just drinking and talking for a good part of the afternoon. Twas glorious and I’m so thankful to be living in the South! Around 4:30, we…
Cooking
The pie has been baked, the brussels have been chopped, the appetizers have been prepped, the table has been set, and a box of foil has been set on fire (whoops!). Now I’m ready to relax! Thank goodness my boss let us go at 3, or I would have never accomplished everything on my list before heading to Hillsborough to grab a beer. If only I could come home at 3 every day, I’d be much more productive. Now if…
I’m very tired, but very excited. We’ve had a slight change in plans; We’ll be hosting Thanksgiving in Durham so that Matt’s parents can see his little sister play in the Elite Eight (soccer) on Friday. Given that I’ll be in my own kitchen, I decided to do some cooking of my own to contribute. So instead of packing, I’ve been cleaning, menu planning, and grocery shopping. I’ve actually never helped with Thanksgiving cooking, so I’m pretty excited to try…
I think I’ve been feeling less tired lately, so I figured it was time to get in the kitchen. When I saw Kat’s pot pie over the weekend and realized that I had many of the ingredients, I knew it had to happen. Since my stomach rejected the world, I no longer eat chicken wings [skin], so this was a nice way to get some of that buffalo chicken flavor in my life. And blue cheese cornbread? Oh yeah.…
1. Sometimes rainy days are fun. But only when I’m with my space heater. 2. Sweet potatoes, pumpkin pie, and beer are just around the corner! 3. Working on a Saturday means it’s really only Wednesday:( 4. Basketball season kicks off tomorrow with the Duke-Davidson game. I’m so lucky that Matt found a ticket for me. 5. Pumpkin oats just get better and better. 6. It’s only November and I’m already turning into a brunette. 7. Not only was I…
It sure doesn’t feel like Thanksgiving is next week. I’m loving the temps, but I need chilly air to get in the holiday mood. I’m sure it’s just around the corner. The new AM sun and the balmy weather allowed me to go on a nice run before work this morning. And for that I am thankful. Though it’s really tough getting started on a run early in the morning, I do find them energizing for the day to come.…
Dinner, the highlight of my day since 2011. I got home late this evening, so I threw together a box of butternut squash risotto that I picked up a whole foods, as well as some brussels roasted in garlic olive oil. Simple, but awesome. Even more awesome, was this homemade peanut butter cup that I dug out of my suitcase. Ashley gave it to me at Foodbuzz and I completely forgot about it. Oh my goodness, was it tasty…
I dragged all day today, but I somehow found a ton of energy after work. I had to do some cleaning and laundry after hosting guests this weekend because I have another guest coming tomorrow! If only I could figure out how to pick up after my self during the week, I wouldn’t have to put away a million things at the end of the week. Sometimes I still feel like a little child living a grown-up’s life. Dinner for…
After a weekend with friends and a fun holiday, I’ve got the post-excitement blues. But, I’m going to keep the complaints to myself today and share yesterday’s pleasures. Pumpkin beer is required on Halloween. I’d never tried this one before, so I cracked it open while I was cooking dinner. It did have a nice pumpkin flavor, but was a bit bland for my taste. I think my tastebuds were ruined by Pumking. I’ve probably made a pizza once since…
