Quiet Night

Cooking

Nothing like a good meal and a cozy night on the couch. I threw this box of risotto in our WF cart this week for something different… The risotto was topped with fresh shrimp sauteed with roma tomatoes and sprinkled with grated parmesan = perfection. Oh, and the last glass of Rhode Island Red left over from Sunday completed the gastronomic experience. That’s really all I have to say:)…

The Beginning of the End

Cooking

Hello, Hello, I’ve had and wonderful weekend with lots of festivities. Sadly, I left my camera at a friend’s house, so you’ll have to wait until tomorrow for the full recap. Until then, I’ve leave you with the details of my Easter relaxation. Matt and I were planning to check out the Old South Church in the Back Bay, but after two very late nights in a row, we just didn’t make it up and out the door in time…

Beach Break + Staycation

Cooking Travel

Thursday is a nice day. Something about being over the hump just brings anticipation and a little bit more productivity. I’m almost finished with a big report that’s due the week after spring break, so I feel good about my work load. I’ve got two more evaluations on my to-do list for May and then I may only have one or two more after that! I’m going to let out a big sigh of relief when my last IEP meeting…

Beans on a Bun

Cooking

Today was cozy. Ya know how every once and a while a nice rainy day just feels kinda fun? The main reason I felt this way is because babysitting was cancelled, so I didn’t have to walk my usual mile to pick up the little guy! Unexpected free time is the best. I read blogs, watched house hunters, and did a gentle bike ride at the gym. And then I made fANNEtastic black bean burgers on the wonderful brioche buns…

Get a Life

Cooking Ramblings

I never feel like the gym on Tuesdays. I left after 15 minutes and took a walk. And then I found myself in Anthropologie, drooling. Luckily, Matt intervened and whisked me away to Whole Foods to buy fresh haddock. Dinner was ready in just ten minutes. Pan seared haddock + my favorite apricot glaze from this recipe + veggies + couscous. Quick and delicious. I’m so mentally ready for spring break next week. And then I remembered I probably will…

The World at 3:30

Cooking Ramblings

Mmmm…70 degrees feels soooo good. I laced up the news shoes after work and went for my first run outside (in Boston) of the year. My shoes felt pretty good. Not fabulous, but solid enough that I think I’m going to keep them. Then run itself actually wasn’t too great, probably because I never run anymore and because I was still full from a massive luncheon we had at work today. Regardless of how my body felt, I really enjoyed…

Playing Hostess

Cooking

It’s late, so I’ll make this one quick and let the pictures do the talking. PS: sorry about the blur on the right of some of the pics; I think I was doing a little too much nibbling with the camera and got a smudge on the lens:) So, it was my turn to host book club. Being the lover of wine and cheese that I am (and given that Sarah’s Key was set in France), I decided to make…

Dog n Brussels

Cooking

Today I went to the dentist! Other than my poor receding gums, my teeth are doing just fine. The floss they give you is so misleading though…it looks like a full size, but there’s really only a little bit inside. After the dentist I went and tried on new running shoes!! I’ve been buying the same pair of stability Asics (21 series) for a few years now, but I was a bit disappointed when I tried on the new model.…

Night and Day

Cooking

Man, I feel like a whole new human today! Whew! I went into work a bit late and I think the extra sleep must have helped. It also made my day fly by. And, today’s weather felt just like a normal American city’s – I didn’t cringe when I walked outside. It was so pleasant that I took the little one to the park for two hours while babysitting. I read my novel and basked in the sun. Delightful. I…
