I’m back from a girls weekend with my grandmother and my mom! The weekend was quite relaxing and we did lots of eating and talking. I got word on Twitter that Friday was national margarita day, so I asked the bartender at the retirement home bistro to make me one on the rocks. She actually made it martini style with a sugar rim and it was oh-so-strong! My grandma enjoyed a bloody mary. We sat around with her friends and…
Life
I feel like I’m in this peaceful period – the calm before the storm. This winter has been relatively slow in terms of plans and events, and while I know things are about to be super busy, I’ve just been enjoying going to work, slowly making my way through the giant to-do list that is the wedding, and taking pleasure in the slow pace of the cold season. Here’s what I’ve been loving lately: I’ve been trying to work out…
I made it to 6am spinning [after two failed attempts last week]. it was dark and cold but I went and pushed through and felt fabulous afterwards. I had my oatmeal in a peanut butter container this morning and enjoyed all the bonus butter from the contours. Made for a nice reward for spinning. 101 days of school complete. I laughed with my co-workers and knocked out two reevaluation meetings and one student observation. Wedding stamps arrived!!! I found a…
-I can’t believe how much the temps dropped overnight. And I can’t believe I lived in Boston and could endure this type of weather for months! I keep thinking just get through these two weeks and it will be February. Then I feel guilty for wishing time away. You know those House Hunters episodes where they just uproot, move to a Caribbean island, and volunteer at the locals schools? That sounds really appealing right now:) -Warmth reminds me of beach…
It was a girls night in this evening. Me and all the VS girls that is. They watched me eat dinner and salivated over my pasta:) I’ve been having trouble sleeping since the break (probably because I stayed up late and slept in for ten days), so I was more than happy to take it easy and relax tonight. I’ve said it a million times, but I need to work on winding down before bed. I LOVE the internet so…
Not just any Thursday, it was back to work day. Waking up was horrible but once I got there it felt quite good to have a purpose to my day! Leftover jambalaya for lunch definitely spiced things up:) It was not a good day for the heat to stop working in the building. My students have to take exams next week – no matter how bad going back to work feels, nothing is worse than taking tests!!! I know, I…
Sometimes it’s so nice to have no plans. I had really low expectations for last night, and I such a blast in small town Durham. We had hoped to throw a party, but with so many people traveling, it was kind of a fail. And then we tried to coordinate a progressive evening of sorts with different friend groups and it just didn’t come together. So, Matt and I found ourselves with a completely free NYE and a fabulous night…
I’ll really miss pizza and beer and bourbon and nut butter I’ll wish I could have gone on my honeymoon I’ll be happy I ate the icing off the top of a cupcake from the teacher’s lounge I’ll be glad I saw my parents and one last live Duke bball game last night I’ll wish I had spent more money on other people and fun events I expect Bill Pullman to come and save me I hope I’m with Matt…
I just saw my first falling star in years! I enjoy a good liquor-filled chocolate, but this one was super strong. I had to pour some of the brandy out of the middle. Don’t tell. I discussed the Christmas menu with my parents tonight and got super excited – one week and one day to go! How about the weather lately. I LOVE the south!!! I can’t even remember life before goat cheese. Date night tomorrow. Woo hoo.…
