We all know it’s on the horizon and men can be impossible to shop for. I’m always on a budget – here are my man gift ideas… Masculine chocolate: bacon, beer, or spicy chili A coupon for a beer and pizza night – a lotta food for a little money is always the way to his heart (same with my dad) Can’t go wrong with a pancake or egg breakfast A little something for the liquor collection he’s always wanted…
Life
Lucky for me, I had one day off between the holiday and starting my new job, so I could take care of the patient. Matt had a simple surgery on his knee today to fix a soccer injury. It was scary when then wheeled him into the back wing! But, he’s doing great now and was pretty funny when he first woke up. We’ve spent most of the day hunkered on the couch. It was actually quite nice to be…
Another quick hello tonight. I had to do some grocery shopping this evening and then ate a quick dinner before heading to the movies with friends. Dinners have been pretty random these past two weeks because all the running around hasn’t left much time for cooking. Tonight I had a boring ham + avocado sandwich and fries. But I did have a great beer: Twas a mix between a wine cooler (I have fond memories of these, unlike many others),…
I just took back time in my twenties. I quit my job (well, gave four weeks notice). I figured I’d rather be poor and happy than have regrets. Don’t worry, I have something small lined up. I’ll surely miss the lovely ladies in my office, and I feel a lot of sadness about that. For now, I’m gonna go drink a beer and keep telling myself that I’m a dreamer and a go-getter and not a quitter. I finally can…
Dinner, the highlight of my day since 2011. I got home late this evening, so I threw together a box of butternut squash risotto that I picked up a whole foods, as well as some brussels roasted in garlic olive oil. Simple, but awesome. Even more awesome, was this homemade peanut butter cup that I dug out of my suitcase. Ashley gave it to me at Foodbuzz and I completely forgot about it. Oh my goodness, was it tasty…
I hate that the years are flying by so quickly, but I’m always thankful when a new year comes around. I can’t tell you where I’m going to celebrate this evening because I actually don’t know! I have a date with my mom and dad to a mystery location. Here’s hoping the night ends with icing. Although, I’m not sure any cake could top last year’s in terms of the amount of buttercream per square inch. Does anyone have any…
Whew. The weekend definitely caught up to me today, and as I told Matt this morning, I felt like a fat zombie. That’s a pretty typical feeling for me on a Monday though. Other than that, I really don’t have much to report – I lunched, I worked, I yawned. And came home to the couch. My life is starting to feel like one big circle. Dinner was goat and tomato ravioli with butter and kale chips with ketchup. Nice…
For the most part, my job involves working in an office. But every once and a while, I get out. Today, I led a group of students up 230 stairs to the top of Duke Chapel. Man, I was not expecting the climb to be so treacherous. Because the stairs are very narrow and dark, I climbed at a steady pace so I could to the fresh air as quickly as possible. Going round and round made me very dizzy.…
Happiness is… watching six episodes of House Hunters in a row, a double date on a Sunday night, a half pint of Lagunitas Little Sumpin, and a huge veggie grilled cheese at the Federal. Happiness is planning your halloween costume with your best friends, the end of a Monday, a trail walk with the girls, and having eggs and cereal for dinner. If happiness is all of these moments, then what is everything in between?…
