Thoughts from a Thursday

Life Ramblings

-We’ve been using the ferry system to get around sometimes and it’s soooo much more enjoyable than the subway.  Living by the water is fabulous in the summer and I love being able to hop on a boat! -Em is just in the best stage right now and her personality is cuter than ever before. She’s been happy, taking great naps, and so talkative and hilarious. Also, she had her first kiss yesterday when our [16-month-old] neighbor walked up to…

Keeping it Real – Life Lately

Life

Happy summer! We had a lovely weekend of Mexican food, relaxation, and celebrating Em’s dad at Brooklyn Brewery. I think it’s kinda funny that we eat Mexican food so much since leaving Dallas – it’s obviously not as good as it is in Texas, but you can never go wrong with tequila and guac. As you may have seen on Instagram stories, Emerson had a big sleep regression/mental leap and was skipping naps, scared to be in her crib alone,…

This & That Around the ‘Net

Life

I don’t know why I didn’t Google this earlier, but the 18-month sleep regression is very real. Reading a bunch of articles made me feel a lot better! There’s a permanent pool coming to Brooklyn Bridge Park! Can you believe my mom has a hole in her eye? A few important notes On Mental Ilness Cartoon Hangry is a real thing and Emerson is the worst hangry person. I found this blog post about reproductive health interesting. I bought a one-piece (well,…

Organic/low sulfite wine – I mentioned in a previous post that I’m having more trouble with wine lately (like a whole day of being hungover after 1-2 glasses), and have tried some organic and no added sulfite wine.  It’s making a huge difference! I don’t feel like I’ve been run over by a bus after wine, I just feel thirsty (or tipsy) like a normal person!  Organic wines contain less than 10ppm natural sulfites and there are tons of great…

Brooklyn Staycation

Brooklyn Life Weekends

For once, the long weekend actually felt really long! I realized Matt hasn’t had a day off where we stayed in Brooklyn since Christmas, so it was wonderful to just relax at home for an extra day. Matt’s parents actually came up on Saturday, and we had so much fun showing them our new home. We spent Saturday morning going for a run and cleaning our apartment, and then we hit the promenade as soon as my in-laws arrived.  It…

A Rainy Brooklyn Weekend

Brooklyn Life Weekends

I hope y’all had a nice weekend.  And I hope those who have any relationship with motherhood were able to find some peace in yesterday’s holiday.  I was talking to my doorman this morning, and he said his country just has a huge holiday to celebrate all women, but nothing for men.  It’s funny because I was thinking yesterday felt more like husband’s day because Matt did so many nice things for me:) We had gorgeous weather in Brooklyn last…

Life Update

Brooklyn Life Ramblings

How’s it going out there? Safe to say spring has arrived in most of the country? It went from zero to eighty over here and I’m loving it.  I hate to be so weather obsessed, but it makes such a big difference in daily life. We’ve been out and about more, seeing flowers and boats and green, and going to bed so tired and content at the end of the day.  I know I said this a few weeks ago,…

Treadmill Stress Reliever

Life Ramblings

I exercise primarily because I love the way it makes me feel, but also because it melts stress away. I classify my stress into two different categories: 1. Anxiety stress where I’m worried about something happening to Emerson or that my IUD got lost inside my body (no, it was just my spleen hurting when I had mono), or fear that our president will start WW III.  For this type of stress, there is no better solution than slow flow…

Durham Life Travel Weekends

Heeyyy, I spent the week down in North Carolina, and I just couldn’t get over how green it is. And we had bright blue skies Monday-Saturday. Aside from two flight cancellations, a crying baby who didn’t want me on the phone and computer, and waiting all day to figure out my plans, the actual solo plane ride went well. We got on an 8:30pm flight, and Emerson stayed up until we landed at 10pm, and then finally feel asleep. Tuesday,…
