Well aside from my blog being all out of sorts (sorry guys!), I had a fabulous weekend. Durham finally feels kinda like home, and not just some strange place I am visiting on an extended vacation. After running errands all day Saturday, I came home and split this Trippel with Matt. It was strong with a spicy-hop finish and I give it two thumbs up! Hopefully, I can add a few new beers to Beer Love once the blog is…
Beer
Hi Friends, This weekend has been quite relaxing so far. Honestly, today has been most settled I’ve felt since the move back in June. All our furniture is here and the only thing we have left to do is hang a million pictures. My body also seems to be adjusting to my work schedule because I actually had the energy to go out last night. Matt and I walked over to Toast, a little cafe on Main St. that pairs…
So where did I leave off yesterday? Ahh, yes, the basil beer. I’d seen this on tap in Hillsborough and practically ran towards it when we arrived at Fullsteam last night. I love farmhouse style beers and saisons – and with a hint of basil? Yes, please. It was subtle, but certainly detectable, and expectations were met. Once I quenched my thirst, I surveyed the food trucks. I really wanted to try the Korean bbq that was recently written up…
Today was the first day at work that I really felt like I was in the swing of things. I didn’t get up early to work-out this morning and I noticed a major difference in my energy levels and there was no headache (I had one the first three days). I also had a meeting and a couple of projects to work on, so the hours few by. The best part about today though, was my discovery of the lunch…
Today was all about nostalgia. I have many strong memories from when I spent a summer in Phoenix 18 years ago and I wanted to revisit some of my favorite places. So, Matt and I got up at 7 to beat the heat and made the 1.2 mile trek to the top of what was formally known as Sqaw Peak. The hike was basically an outdoor stair climber and took us a hour and a half. The mountain looks so…
Today was another long day of unpacking and driving around the Triangle trying to find all the things we need. My sickness finally turned into a runny nose, so I’m feeling a lot better, aside from the fact that I haven’t slept much in days. Tomorrow I will finally sleep in! Matt and I were able to make a nice trip to Whole Foods and we enjoyed corn on the cob and local chicken sausages before walking over to Tobacco…
Boston is truly an amazing city filled with great restaurants, unique bars, and beautiful sights… Ladies and gentlemen, I bring you the my Best of Boston! I apologize that I don’t have links to all of the recommendations – I visited some of these places before I started blogging. Obviously, most of my categories are food related, starting with the best… Places to Eat Pizza The Pizza and Ice Cream Company (PICCO) Coppa Penguin Pizza Places for a Cocktail The…
WOW. I had one of the most memorable dining experiences last night. I’m so lucky to have had the opportunity to try some incredible Boston restaurants over the past three years and last night was in the top five best meals I’ve ever had (in Boston). [Disclaimer – one of the themes of my blog is balance, and just so ya know, this next month is NOT going to be balanced since we’re hitting all our favorite restaurants before moving,…
Yesterday afternoon I said goodbye to the high school and hello to the bar:) Let’s just say the beers were going down fast. I had a Sam Brick Red, Abita Purple Haze, and a Long Trail Ale over the course of the afternoon. I hung out with my co-interns as well as some new people and there were lots of good laughs. It was a really an amazing afternoon. Then, Matt arrived and bought me a mojito! A group…
