Happy Monday! We’ve got freezing rain on the way here in Dallas:( I’m heading to the east coast tomorrow to visit my family, and I hope I can get out! For now, a recap of my weekend. Friday was cold and wet, so Matt and I opted to get cozy on the couch and not do a thing. We opened a bottle of Italian pinot grigio and watched Cloud Atlas, which was super weird. Loved Tom Hanks though! I made…

You guys are the best. People have been coming out of the woodwork since last week – I really appreciate the support! It was nice relaxing in Dallas this week – we had great weather and lots of good eats. Matt and I grabbed tacos at Mr. Mesero on Friday night. My pork and shrimp tacos were kinda boring, but I loved all the sides and the chips and salsa. I think Urban Taco is still the winner for cheap…
I absolutely fell in love with Puerto Vallarta! I can’t believe this paradise is just two hours from Dallas. The food, the people, and the scenery were wonderful. Matt spoke Spanish as much as possible, and we chatted with so many interesting people and got to know the staff at the resort. We ate amazingly fresh seafood, consumed as much guacamole as humanly possible, and sipped margaritas and cervezas a little too often. One of the highlights was a mountain…
70 and sunny sure makes for a nice Monday! But, yesterday was HOT. I definitely don’t miss being covered in sweat when I get in the car. Despite the weather, the leaves are turning here! There’s no brilliant oranges, but I’ll take yellow. Last week flew by, and it was great having Matt home in time for dinner a few nights. Cooking highlights included these butternut squash tacos. Anyone have recommendations for warming corn tortillas? I can never get it…
I’ve been recovering from a bad cold this week, so when Friday came around and I started to feel better, I was in the best mood! There’s nothing like being sick to make you appreciate being healthy. I didn’t want to do much on Friday, but hot broth sounded amazing, so Matt and I checked out a new ramen restaurant in Dallas called Tanoshii. I’m no ramen expert, so I have idea where Tanoshii falls on the spectrum in terms…
Food truck Wednesday! Well not really – I think there are trucks at Fullsteam Brewery most nights! Side note: I love food trucks as long as I have a table. I can’t stand eating while standing up – I’m a fast eater and have learned that I do much better if I can sit down and savor my food! Tonight, we met up with friends and a birthday girl for beers and celebration and it was so nice! I…
Happy Easter!! I thought I was beating Matt’s cold, but it has gotten the best of me today:( I wasn’t able to go to church or brunch, but my parents were nice enough to order us a pizza and come over for the Duke game. I really thought I was on the up-and-up Saturday, and attempted a date night. I figured beer is the best medicine (only in the moment…) Matt and I stopped at Milltown in Chapel Hill and…
I love cooking holiday appropriate foods. And dressing in holiday appropriate colors (well you kinda have to for St. Paddy’s Day…). Growing up, Kelly the Leprechaun used to come in the wee hours of the morning and make green cinnamon coffee cakes for breakfast. And I think we used to have corned beef too. So naturally, I wanted to make something loosely Irish last night. I found a recipe for Cottage Pie, and since it allowed me to use that…
What was the highlight of your weekend? Mine was mexican food with the fam at my favorite childhood spot: Bandidos. My dad had a Groupon, so he took us out! Growing up, I didn’t drink the margaritas, but I always ordered the shredded chicken quesadillas, and I still think they are some of the best quesadillas out there! I went for a house ‘rita on the rocks with shrimp tacos. I actually love shrimp in tacos more than fish, but…
