Brrrr. It’s been a chilly weekend here, so I did what I do best – stayed inside and ate good food! Matt was out of town Friday, so I took myself to Fuqua Friday for dinner and drinks. Only when I arrived, the usual buffet had been replaced by a million people wearing hair nets! Turns out, Fuqua students and staff were stuffing thousands of bags with rice and seasonings to send off to a Stop Hunger campaign. It was…
Beer
Matt came home late Friday night from a trip to Atlanta and announced that he got an offer for a summer internship. Hooray!!! He called on the way home from the airport, so I had just enough time to get this very special beer into the freezer for a celebration. It was a gift from my Dad for my birthday and it was wonderful. It actually went down so fast with the excitement of the moment, that I don’t remember…
Hello, This weekend felt surprisingly long. Probably because I didn’t have to work on Friday. It felt so amazing on Thursday evening when I remembered! I feel very lucky to be on this little detour in my career path right now:) Saturday evening was the highlight of my weekend. My parents took us to Raleigh for dinner and we tried the new Beasley’s Chicken & Honey. It was a cold and rainy night, perfect for some southern food. The atmosphere…
I’ve been waiting for an excuse for a cereal night. Mostly because I wanted to drizzle this all over my dinner: That would be a Christmas gift from my sister. It reminds me of the Peanut Butter & Co peanut butter that my college roommate and I would just eat out of the jar with a spoon. Happy memories. So this afternoon was my company’s Christmas New Year’s party. Things were really busy at the end of the year,…
Vacationing is great, but weekends at home can be just as fabulous! Friday night, I had a lot of fun drinking wine and eating pizza with my co-workers. I’m getting sad about leaving them, but was so happy to be able to enjoy a night out with everyone. Saturday was a boat load of fun because I had the whole family over to my place! I think it was the first time it’s ever happened. Kath & Kanz came…
On our last day of vacation, we went all out and totally made up for stomach aches and early nights. It may have been my favorite day of the trip! We slept in, had tea, and then ventured to the famous Huey’s on the River for brunch. We obviously got the beignets. They were warm and doughy and fabulous. Totally hit the spot! On the side of doughnuts, I got the most delicious crab cake. Seriously one of the best…
I borrowed some juice from a co-worker, but just enough to write a blog post before my computer dies again. So sad. Anyway, I left off in Amelia Island, but on New Year’s Eve, we made the short drive to Savannah for a bit more hustle and bustle. Every time I visit this city I fall in love, because it’s just soo beautiful! There’s a square covered with spanish moss everywhere you turn. Of course, we stopped by city market…
I had a very very merry Christmas (and I hope you did too!) Matt and I helped cook Christmas brunch – pancakes and a huge frittata – and then relaxed and opened presents. I asked for mostly consumables and got some awesome gift-cards! Can’t wait to spend them in the new year. We also headed to Duke gardens for a family walk and then to see the movie My Week with Marilyn. It was such an enjoyable afternoon and the…
…was tons of fun! I took it easy all day – went for a run outside this morning and put the final touches on my white chocolate peppermint cheesecake this afternoon. Then around 3, Matt’s parents arrived and the real party started! We drank beer and chatted for a few hours and Matt and I prepped two pizzas for a late-night dinner. Bacon, mushroom, red pepper on whole wheat and pesto, goat, sun-dried tomatoes, and basil on white.…
