Hot Weekend

Uncategorized

70 and sunny sure makes for a nice Monday! But, yesterday was HOT. I definitely don’t miss being covered in sweat when I get in the car. Despite the weather, the leaves are turning here! There’s no brilliant oranges, but I’ll take yellow. Last week flew by, and it was great having Matt home in time for dinner a few nights. Cooking highlights included these butternut squash tacos. Anyone have recommendations for warming corn tortillas? I can never get it…

Cold Recovery Through Food

Uncategorized

I’ve been recovering from a bad cold this week, so when Friday came around and I started to feel better, I was in the best mood! There’s nothing like being sick to make you appreciate being healthy. I didn’t want to do much on Friday, but hot broth sounded amazing, so Matt and I checked out a new ramen restaurant in Dallas called Tanoshii. I’m no ramen expert, so I have idea where Tanoshii falls on the spectrum in terms…

A Quiet Weekend

Cooking

We had a long, relaxing weekend here in Dallas. Despite the beautiful evening on Friday, we decided to stay in and cook. The minute Matt arrived home from work, we popped open this bottle of cab (gift, I think?) and drank a glass out on our little balcony. It was a great way to kick off the weekend. I picked up some extra thick pork chops for dinner and we cooked them with apples and bacon brussels. What a perfect…

Cedars Social + Truck Yard

Amazing Restaurants

Hi Guys, What’s new out there? Nothing exciting here except an awesome weekend. We ate in on Friday and then had some drinks with friends, which made for a nice low-key evening. Saturday was one of those cold rainy days where cuddling up in bed sounded perfect. But we grabbed brunch with friends in a cute neighborhood and tried some vegan cupcakes that were good but made me feel gross. I am not a fan of soy! For dinner, we…

Dallas Exploration Continues

Uncategorized

There’s nothing like a Friday happy hour, right? Because that hour is often the happiest of the weekend! It’s funny how quickly the time passes after that point. I got to meet Matt’s new coworkers at happy hour – they are lots of fun and had me laughing the whole time. After happy hour, Matt and I headed to dinner at Sfuzzi because, you guessed it, we had a Groupon! I loved the outdoor patio and the food was decent,…

Randomness

Cooking Ramblings

I’m obsessed with this new eggplant dip I found at WF. It’s tangy and sooo good with sweet potato chips. I made Kath’s pumpkin meatloaf this week! Yes, it’s ugly, but that’s because I made a one-person portion [excuses] and just kinda formed it in one corner of the loaf pan. The upside was that all the sides were crunchy end pieces. I also added bourbon in place of the water in the sauce:) I loved the pumpkin sauce so…

Cauliflower Pizza, The Porch, & Gatsby

Cooking

Hope yall had a pleasant weekend. Matt and I stayed in on Friday night and popped open a bottle of wine from our last visit to Charlottesville wine country. I really love sipping wine while cooking. And Friday’s dinner took quite a while to prepare…I finally got around to trying the famous cauliflower pizza crust that’s been floating around the web. There are tons of recipes out there, but I used this one (with real eggs) so I could use…

An Evening in Bishop Arts

Amazing Restaurants

The weeks are just flying by! I can’t believe next weekend is Labor Day and then summer is over:( Although, I must admit, I’m looking forward to cooler temps in Dallas, so we can actually sit on all the awesome outdoor patios. I took it easy this weekend because I planned a little trip to the Texas hill country tomorrow. I know as soon as Matt starts work, days off will be a rarity, so I figured we should check…

Restaurant Week: Salum

Uncategorized

Even though I love restaurant week, I’ve had some bad experiences with it in the past – poor service, limited menu, or just blah food. When I heard about it in Dallas, I quickly went to OpenTable, but all the restaurants I wanted to try were booked. So after reading some reviews, I picked Salum. I probably wouldn’t have picked it otherwise, so I’m happy that I stumbled upon it! The weather has been perfect for strolling around the neighborhood!…
