Food Truck Rodeo

Uncategorized

Food trucks are taking over. But I love ’em. And love that ‘gourmet’ food is getting cheap and trendy. Matt and I ventured over to the weekly food truck gathering in the Virginia Highlands this evening. We tried to resist the mac and cheese, claiming that we could make it at home, but we gave into the temptation when we saw the summer succotash – ziti noodles with fontina and jack cheese covered with peppers, corn, lima beans, and topped…

Thoughts from a Tuesday

Life Ramblings

Ecto just ate the previous post…let me try to remember my thoughts… -There was a hint of fall in the air today. This is about the only time of year when I get tired of the heat. -How do you ever decide on a wedding dress? -Where should we move after Matt graduates? -Fish never tastes as good at home as it does in restaurants. I should just give up. -Jam/jelly reductions make the best sauces. -I can’t believe I…

Monday + Meetup

Uncategorized

It’s been quite a nice Monday here! I babysat today and went to a spinning class this evening. It seems the weather has cooled off just a bit, so taking the little guy on a walk this morning wasn’t so bad. Matt got home from work very late, so I made one of my quick go-to dinners, which has actually become my favorite packed lunch: TJ’s black bean taquitos toasted in the oven over TJ’s lemongrass rice with avocado and…

Clothing Life

Another long day of babysitting, though this time I’m not pooped. The little guy def. pooped though – a ton and then bounced around in the exer-saucer. TMI? Not pretty. I’m headed back to the airport tomorrow. Living in Atlanta is starting to get pretty weird because I never see Matt and then I travel on the weekends. I’m so confused about where home is. I’ve also had some issues with a large spider in the shower (three encounters –…

Boston Bridesmaid

Travel

Wow. What a weekend! I traveled to Boston to be a bridesmaid in my friend’s wedding. Everything appeared to go exactly as planned and I had a blast: Friday night, the groom’s parents hosted a lovely rehearsal dinner at the Nashoba Valley Winery. The setting was beautiful and the food fantastic! I sipped on red wine, but the beer was very tasty too! Dinner was a full three course meal and the winery used a lot of fresh, local ingredients!…

Bowl on a Plate

Life Travel

It comes once a week – you know it’s my fav: the Mexican bowl! Although there’s no big bowls in my sublet, so I had to eat this on a plate. Well, I was able to scoop up most of it with chips. Speaking of bowls. I love Atlanta; I love our little apartment here, but I think I’m ready to be in my own space again. It’s funny how I notice the little things about being away from home.…

Juicy Snack

Ramblings

Another glorious day of babysitting in the ATL. Today was rainy and I was actually cold in the midst of this hot summer. I almost forgot what it feels like to be in another season. Soon though, fall will be here! Summer is moving way too quickly. I start work in one month:/ For the first time in ions, I got myself up and to the gym before 9am. I’ve gotten used to lazy mornings with cereal, so it’s hard…

Dallas Friends

Travel

Our last day in Dallas was spent with friends! Matt’s best bud from high school and his wife Beccah have a 2-week-old baby boy. Welcome to the world, William! William was actually two weeks early, so it was fun visiting with him on basically his due date. He was soo tiny and fragile. Made me a bit nervous:) And reminded me that I’m going to be an aunt very very soon!!!! Saturday evening, one of my college roommates came out…

Hair Day

Ramblings

The highlights of my day: 1. This kitchen sink salad 2. A $75 haircut. The salad was a salad, with arugula, roasted broccoli, goat cheese, hummus, white kidney beans, avocado, olive oil. Enough said. But about the haircut, oh the haircut! I think $35 is a reasonable price for a haircut, don’t you? After all, I usually just get an inch cut off with a little re-shaping and call it a day. But today, I was totally pampered with a…
