There’s a scary storm out there. I keep trying to do things on the internet and whenever the power flickers, the wireless signal goes out. Good thing I already made my dinner. Because I needed the microwave! I was inspired by Caitlin’s twice baked potatoes today, and immediately went home and made a sweet potato version – I mixed corn relish into the taters and topped them with jack cheese. Soooo good. Also, a good old masala burger with avocado.…

Low Key

Cooking Life

After eating out a bazillion times with the parents and the birthday/holiday celebration in the middle of the week, I was in need of a low key weekend. Friday night, Matt and I met two Atlanta friends for burgers at the famous Vortex. I had the guac black bean burger and it was honestly one of the best veggie burgers I’ve ever had. I also looved the zucchini fries on the side. Too bad this left me a bad stomach…

Pool Day

Life

I took myself to the pool today! My the public pool is nice – there was even a mini lazy river! I’ve found that I’m much less tolerant of the heat and sun these days, so I took advantage of the adult swim to cool off. The temperature was perfect. And there was a nice breeze. I packed an avocado and hummus sandwich, along with a juicy [over] ripe peach for lunch. It was quite fun. Late afternoon, I hit…

Half Pounder, With Buttercream

Amazing Restaurants

That epic dinner on Saturday? It took place at Leon’s in Decatur, a gem that many of you recommended! T’was my restaurant soul mate. Why? Because there was outdoor seating, old garage doors that open in the summer, a long beer list, reasonable prices, a strong menu, a casual atmosphere, a feeling of excitement, and a great dessert. Leon’s has it all. I started with a solid red wine. I think it was a tempranillo, or something full and earthy.…

That’s A Wrap

Ramblings

Where did the day go? I was on my computer all.day.long – googling, searching, planning, emailing, chatting. It’s really easy to just get sucked into the internets. There’s no tv here (there’s an actual tv, but it doesn’t get even local channels), which is both good and bad. Bad obviously because I can’t watch anything other than Netflix (not even the Olympics:(), but good because I don’t waste time. Except I end up wasting even more time on the computer,…

Week At Home

Travel

Howdy, I’ve been trying to relax at home this week, but things have been hectic as usual. There’s some complications with my job in the fall (that I hope to share with you soon), so I’ve been dealing with that since Monday. In between that, I’ve been feasting on watermelon, cooking tilapia burgers for my parents, and attempting to come up with a guest list that’s less than 160 people (not fun). This evening, I had dinner with a friend…

Burger Bar to Haute Dog Bar

Amazing Restaurants Travel

Well, summer is off to a great start (knock on wood)! This weekend was totally relaxing and packed with awesome food. Our neighborhood seems so peaceful and I feel happier than I have in weeks. Matt just finished his first week of his internship, so he was pretty much content just resting and eating all weekend. Friday night, we headed to Decatur for dinner. LOVE this area! I could definitely see myself here as a 30-something. We grabbed a beer…

Tres Taquitos

The Working World

From the freezer, with love. These guys are actually great – they’ve become a staple for my packed lunches because I just throw them in a tupperware container with rice or quinoa and salsa and heat at work. They are black bean btw. My office has been packed up. I have three meetings and one end-of-year performance review to go. My brain is tired. I’m pumped for summer. Sleep is awesome.…

Howdy. How are you? You know it’s bad when you take two Tylenol PM and still can’t sleep. Talk about a zombie. Now I know why Michael Jackson kept upping his dose. Miraculously, I felt a billion times better when I woke up and got to work today. I’m really plowing through my to-do list and I will meet all my deadlines very soon! T minus 3 weeks to go!!! After work, Matt helped me throw together a fabulous summer…
