Thoughts from [a run on] a Thursday

Life Ramblings

I don’t think I’ve been on an outdoor run since December. I don’t do winter. I discovered a greenway near my work and it was a great place to run. Gotta do that more often. Running outside really hurt my knees and I move at the pace of a snail. There were so many fun houses to look at. It’s funny how my taste has changed. I used to be so concerned with the size and cub appeal, but now…

Bread N Kabob

Another day of babysitting, another Disney movie! I really love kids movies, and love it even more when parents don’t mind if we put them on! I’ve been feeling kind of blah/foggy the past two days (I think it’s hormone related), so it was nice to get at least a little break from entertaining the kids. Also, it was freeeezing today and I just couldn’t warm up. Big houses are nice (the family has an enormous, open great room), but…

Casserole Wipe Out

Shopping

Despite the cold temps and brutal wind, I had a fun-filled Monday. I took advantage of my day off and met my Mom for some shopping. We mostly just looked around, but I did come home with a new bra and a cheapy Target watch. I’ve always been into watches and tend to acquire them when I see funky and inexpensive ones. I also helped my Mom find a pair of skinny jeans! Well, they probably aren’t the kind you…

Thoughts from a Thursday

Cooking Ramblings

Matt’s finished with another term of business school! Boyfriend home by 5 means I got to lay in bed while he cooked dinner: roasted brussels, basmati, and a ginger marinaded swordfish from WF. A nice treat! The weather was also a nice treat. I think the warmth affected my grocery trip because I found my cart full of summer-y fruits and vegetables! Why was I laying in bed at 5 o’clock? Long story short, a headache combined with a mini…

Study Break

Durham Restaurants

Matt’s stuck in the library, studying for his final tomorrow, so I met him for a study break at the Mad Hatter bakery and cafe. We had yet another Living Social coupon, so my dinner was free! I ordered the grilled salmon over roasted vegetables. And for $9.95 at a bakery, this meal was awesome. The salmon was perfectly cooked and I even ate all my veggies (I’m a very picky veggie eater). Matt had fish tacos and was impressed.…

Fuqua Tuesday

Uncategorized

Hello. Friday marks the end of another term for Matt, and since that involves exams, the weekly Fuqua Friday was moved to Tuesday this week. Free food, beer, and entertainment! I enjoyed an excuse not to cook and filled up on chicken curry, spinach salad, some kind of bean salad, a frittata type square, and chips and salsa. I passed on booze tonight, because of my gut – many of my digestive issues seemed to have worsened this week and…

Ordinary

Cooking

Today was a cold and rainy Monday in Durham. While I really wanted to lay on the couch all day, there’s nothing worse than an unproductive Monday. I did two loads of laundry, straightened up the apartment, finished up a project I was helping my mom with, and had a partner’s meeting about an event I’m helping coordinate. And, I made enchiladas! This sweet potato and black bean combo is one of my favorite dinners. Matt’s eyes lit up when…

Vin Rouge

Durham Restaurants

Oh hey Friday, Sorry for being MIA yesterday. Matt’s company-to-be (assuming he accepts the offer for summer employment) treated us to dinner at Durham’s Vin Rouge. I was pumped that I was invited to join, because Vin Rouge has been on my list since we moved! I’m not always crazy about French food, but have heard fabulous things about this spot and the restaurant itself is adorable. I had a glass of pinot noir and a glass of cabernet franc…

Today

Cooking Ramblings

Enter my weekly rice bowl: sweet taters, black beans, corn, salsa fresco, avocado, corn chips. I look forward to dinner all day. Wednesdays make my head hurt. I felt pretty bad after work, but had an Exedrin migraine, and was on the bike and sweating 40 minutes later. Caffeine works wonders sometimes, yet my stomach rejects coffee. Bodies are so weird. Today’s weather = invigorating. I saw tons of people out running, but of course, I prefer the dark spinning…
