Whew. The weekend definitely caught up to me today, and as I told Matt this morning, I felt like a fat zombie. That’s a pretty typical feeling for me on a Monday though. Other than that, I really don’t have much to report – I lunched, I worked, I yawned. And came home to the couch. My life is starting to feel like one big circle. Dinner was goat and tomato ravioli with butter and kale chips with ketchup. Nice…

For the most part, my job involves working in an office. But every once and a while, I get out. Today, I led a group of students up 230 stairs to the top of Duke Chapel. Man, I was not expecting the climb to be so treacherous. Because the stairs are very narrow and dark, I climbed at a steady pace so I could to the fresh air as quickly as possible. Going round and round made me very dizzy.…
I tried yoga again. It was MUCH more difficult this time (it wasn’t a beginner’s class), but I liked it a lot! The instructor was a six foot tall stick and I have no idea how she held some of the poses for so long. I’m glad my early morning was peaceful because work was a bit hectic. I hate how my job ebbs and flows with crazy days and boring days. I’d like some steady, long-term projects that amount…
Despite feeling like it was Tuesday (because I went to work yesterday), I had a really nice day. I rode the stationary bike this morning and took a brisk fall walk at lunch. Who doesn’t love this weather? I actually decided it’s officially fall because I wore socks to work for the first time since last spring. My feet were nice and cozy all day long. October is also my birthday month, which is significant because of all the little…
Last winter, I had one sip of Southern Tier’s Choklat stout and nearly died. Aside from Pumking (also a Southern Tier beer), this is one of the greatest substances on the planet. Both beers taste just like cake!!! What you see below is actually the Choklat stout mixed with Southern Tier’s Jahva imperial coffee stout. Surprisingly, this is a spring release and my sister gifted it to Matt over the summer. We’ve been waiting for the temperature to drop to…
Last night = laid back, perfect Friday. We had planned on going to a restaurant, but when we saw the full southern buffet at Fuqua Friday and Fullsteam (!) beer, we knew we had found dinner. Dirty rice, maple collards with squash, sweet potatoes, sausage gumbo, and fried catfish. Southern food is awesome. Fullsteam had their Southern Lager (way stronger than a lager in my opinion) and Working Man’s Lunch. Both were excellent. I had three:) Dessert was some kind…
hola. I guess nobody wanted to share what kind of tacos you like on yesterday’s post. That’s ok. Maybe you all like all kinds of tacos. Anyway, the reason for all this taco talk is that I tried the new Nana Taco last night. For those of you who are not familiar with Durham, Nana’s is a famous upscale restaurant that’s been open for years (I’ve never been). In contrast to Nana’s, Nana Taco is an inexpensive, casual taco shack.…
Happiness is… watching six episodes of House Hunters in a row, a double date on a Sunday night, a half pint of Lagunitas Little Sumpin, and a huge veggie grilled cheese at the Federal. Happiness is planning your halloween costume with your best friends, the end of a Monday, a trail walk with the girls, and having eggs and cereal for dinner. If happiness is all of these moments, then what is everything in between?…
Headache At work, a man yelled at me basically out of the blue because of a mistake he made Don’t you hate it when the sale labels are confusing in stores? I had to exchange toilet paper because the non-sale kind was under the sale sign What’s with the five days of grey skies? Frozen pizza was instrumental in healing my grumpy mood Tomorrow is Friday and Fuqua is hosting a mini Octoberfest!!!!!!! I tried Sync Spinning again today and…
