Doin the Thursday Dance

Guys, I can almost taste the weekend. Although I felt great without fructose this week (physically, not emotionally), the old belches didn’t change one bit, so I think its time to gradually re-introduce sweetness in my life and see what happens. The fructose elimination has been a wonderful exercise in self-control and has actually taught me a bit about about how much sugar I’m really eating each day, so I’d recommend the challenge. I had another productive and easy-going day at…

Tropical-ish

Well hello and happy December! It’s sad that I don’t have an advent calender. I remember having a fancy one from my grandmother one year, where behind every door, there was a miniature Christmas ornament for a doll-sized tree. Opening those doors was just so exciting! This advent isn’t quite as exhilarating, although I was invited to Matt’s office party, so I guess that’s something. Do people have lots of fun holiday events to attend? The weather outside is frightful,…

Today was just fabulous, especially compared to yesterday. I was able to get quite a few things accomplished at work and at home, including things I’d been putting off for a while (like emailing my landlord about our deteriorating shower and finishing up reports) and I managed to squeeze a run in there as well. All of a sudden, it was dinner time and I was pretty hungry. I snacked on some corn chips with a new jalapeno hummus (which…

Holiday Teaser

Clothing

I’m not gonna lie. Today was rough. Thanksgiving is always such a tease. My body clock is a bit confused from the holiday and I had a headache and stomach ache for most of the day. I guess I had my first case of the back-to-work blues? The good news is I pushed through and put a good dent in some testing I had to do. I didn’t feel like going to the gym (or doing anything really) so I…

Thanksgiving at Matt’s was just dandy. After an hour stint at the local Gold’s gym, a beer tasting ensued. The Mad Elf Ale was BEER-tastic! It reminded me of a darker and less-sweet version of the Sam Adams Cherry Wheat. Definitely a new favorite. The other two beers were nothing to write home about and, honestly, the winter ales are all starting to blend together. Meanwhile, Matt’s mom was hard at work, cooking a fabulous dinner. I had planned on…

HAPPY THANKSGIVING! I’m very thankful for all of you guys:) So yesterday, after a lovely visit with my Grandmother, we went to the bowling alley for a little family fun. Matt’s sister is taking a bowling class in college, so she got a chance to show us her skillz. I, on the other hand, am I terrible bowler. As is evidenced by my score… But, I still had a blast! I guess I need to bowl more frequently? During cocktail…

More Potato Pillows

Cooking Travel

I made the last-minute decision to cook chili yesterday after stumbling upon an awesome recipe for sweet potato black bean chili at the Fitnessista.com. I had a jumbo sweet potato just dying to be used before the break, so I diced him and cranked up the slow cooker. I followed the Fitnessista’s recipe exactly, except I used chicken broth rather than veggie broth because that’s all I had. I was skeptical of the favor at first, because this seemed soo…

Good afternoon bloggies, I practically bounded out of bed this morning because I was so excited to have a free Saturday. Between last week’s case study and our mini-trip, I feel like I haven’t had a Saturday to just do things around the house. Despite how I was feeling yesterday, Friday evening ended up being very nice. It was actually really fun to have an excuse to take a nap on a Friday afternoon, and I woke up feeling ten…

Deck the Street

We’re almost out of pumpkin:( So I had one pumpkin pancake and one regular, and the regular tasted blahhhh in comparison. I never want pumpkin season to end! But it will have to soon, because the Holiday season has officially begun! I know this because my street was decked in the Christmas lights that mysteriously appear every year: My weekly dose of food inspired by our friends south of the border: One day I’ll eat dinner with Matt again and…
