Another day at the internship, another day of babysitting, and another yummy dinner to turn my semi-boring Wednesday into something more fun. Matt chopped the brussels and I made a simple sauce out of peanut butter, soy sauce, water, and sriracha based on this recipe from Cooking Light. I’ve missed soy sauce in my life because there’s so many fun things you can do with it. I stir-fried the noodles in the sauce and garlic and then added shrimp and…

Hi guys, I whipped up a little guac this afternoon for the girls book club meeting tonight! The book was Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, which I just couldn’t get through in time for the meeting. I still enjoyed the discussion, but after talking about the plot in-depth, I think I’ve had enough murder and sexual violence for now. The gathering was a nice break in the middle of the week. I enjoyed lots of fun food, friends, and wine.…
I was warned this would happen: ecto ate my post. I’m trying to stay positive and I’m writing this post for the second time today. Monday was nice. This weekend was my college’s homecoming and this morning I realized that the one positive thing about not attending (this was the first time I didn’t go) was that I didn’t have to suffer through the withdrawal that usually results after a weekend back on campus. I’m typically in a bad mood for…
YesterDAY was not fun. I sat down around noon at Starbucks to try and knock out my case study, and it suddenly dawned on me just how much work I had to do. Then I threw a minor fit when I realized I had forgotten my lactose-free milk and stormed out of the ‘bucks to go home and retrieve it. This stomach stuff really gets to me because I feel so helpless about the whole situation. The good news is…
It took a lot of coaxing last night, but Matt finally got me off the couch and into the night. We went to Chipotle to use our buy one, get one free coupon before it expired. I got the pork burrito bowl, which is what I usually get at Qdoba. We never eat at Chipotle because there’s only one in the city, but this bowl was huge and fantastic. The meat had been marinated giving it soo much flavor. My…
Despite having to ‘work’ today, it was a really relaxing day. For starters, the weather was awesome. A nice day for a stroll… to the museum of science! It was fun to just walk around the museum, check out exhibits, and spend some time with the little guy (this is the one from the summer, not Jon). We also packed a lunch and had sandwiches in the cafeteria, which was an interesting place for people-watching. After babysitting, I got a…
Howdy blog world, I had a busy busy day at the ‘ole internship, which left me feeling a little drained this evening. The good news? I don’t have a food allergy!!!!!!! I really didn’t think I had one given that I don’t have any immune-system related symptoms, but I’m still so relieved. I do plan to stay away from scary artificial soy products and soybean oil, but soy lecithin (aka, chocolate) will be back in my life. The bad news…
Yesterday’s happy hour was actually four hours of happiness with fun girlfriends:) I had two of these guys on the rocks sans salt. The first sip tasted like a warm, tropical vacation. After lots of chatting, we ordered dinner at the bar. Shrimp and crawfish quesadilla…need I say more? I had half of this guy and brought the other half home to Matt who was delighted to receive leftovers of the best mexican meal in Boston. I had one…
Another wet day here, but I’m heading to the warm and festive nook known as the Border Cafe for drinks after work!!!! I do believe this will be my first happy hour (well, technically I’ve been many times, but it doesn’t count if you don’t go to work first). Also, a side note, drink specials are not allowed in Boston, so happy hour is really not any happier than other hours except for the fact that drinking after work tends…
