Sore Arm, Sleepy Head

Uncategorized

Today was dark and cold and rainy and windy, but I didn’t really mind because I had pumpkin pancakes for breakfast and I got to go to a fun lunch lecture on creating safe spaces for LGBTQ youth! The speaker was very powerful and her talk focused on ways for straight practitioners to provide nonjudgemental support to LGBTQ youth. I know I definitely need to do a better job of using neutral language because it’s so easy to assume students…

Simmering Supper

Cooking

Jack Frost was knocking at my door this morning…since when is it winter? Thank goodness today was the second to last day of Jon’s soccer practice because I was freezing at babysitting. I had on a long sweater and a full pea coat, but I just don’t do well with cold. I was also hungry and tired after work, so I was pretty darn excited to have this all ready when I came home (it’s just chicken with bbq sauce…

Shopping

Ahhh, my day off was nice:) The morning didn’t go exactly as I an envisioned though because I had to do some report writing (which took longer than I had planned) and spinning was a bit of a disappointment. I hadn’t ever been to the Tuesday class because I’m usually at work and I didn’t really care for the instructor. She was very nice, but we did a lot of long sprints with virtually no resistance on the bike. I’m…

PD Day!

Uncategorized

Hola Friends, Yesterday was Monday, but it was kinda like Friday, because I’m relaxing at home today!!!!!!! My school couldn’t accommodate interns at the professional development day, so our supervisors told us to take the day off. Though I’m going to have to work on a report, I’m also going to a noon time spinning class and I may treat myself to a target trip this afternoon. Man, I could really get used to having a day to myself during…

Speaking of November

Cooking

Today was pretty typical. It didn’t really feel like Halloween because all of the festivities took place Saturday night. I went to a noon-time spinning class and then threw together a smorgasbord of things we had lingering in the fridge for lunch. I had a lot of cleaning to do today becauase I haven’t been doing very well with keeping my apartment clean during the work week. I tend to pile my clothes onto my desk chair, so I always…

The Lobstah PumQueen

Uncategorized

An orange squash brought much joy to my life last night. I dressed up as a lobster, met up with a vampire… as well as a cop and a hunter… and headed to a pumpkin beer festival at the Cambridge Brewing Company!!!!!!! When we arrived, there was a huge wait, but we braved the cold for an hour and a half because we LOVE beer. It was totally worth it in the end. We were ravenous when we finally got…

Sleepy Friday

Uncategorized

Top of the mornin to you, Look who came out from the back of the fridge last night! The king of pumpkin beers was just as good as I remember, and soo strong. The bock was enjoyable too, but I think our stash of Just Beer brews from this summer is starting to reach its shelf life because it seemed like carbonation was lacking (does that happen?) I didn’t buy anything at DSW, but I ruled out a couple of…

Puree Perfection

My, oh my, did Kath stumble upon something glorious with this Kodiak cake + pumpkin combo. We stirred pumpkin pie puree (with the appropriate spices already added by Whole Foods) into the batter and these pancakes were fabulous, not only in taste, but in texture too!!!!!! Topped with my birthday present, this was a breakfast of champions:) Yum and yum. Can’t wait to try these next week with the butterscotch pb! I had quite the productive day at work and then…

Balmy & Beautiful

Cooking

Today was balmy and rainy, but for some reason, I found the weather beautiful. If it weren’t for the orange leaves everywhere, it would have felt just like the beach after a storm. The foliage has been just gorgeous lately, and I’m hoping this warm weather will encourage the leaves to stay on the trees for a few more days because I’m headed to the mountains the weekend after this one! Despite the downpour earlier today, I still took Jon…
