My weekend didn’t exactly go as planned. After all that talk of de-stressing (thanks for your comments, btw!), I totally de-stressed on Friday, and then woke up with a bad cold on Saturday. Sadly, I wasn’t up to doing all the things I had planned:( But I did eat soup and sleep for 12 hours straight! Rewind to my relaxing Friday – I had given my Mom a coupon last Mother’s Day for a fancy lunch out in Durham, and…

Cinco de Mayo was a smashing success! We had a huge downpour right before our party, so all of our guests arrived wet, but after a few margaritas everyone was warm and cozy inside. I made Cristina’s quinoa black bean salad as well as sweet potato black bean enchiladas, and some chocolate dipped strawberries. I also made classic red wine sangria with rum. I was busy drinking my friend Maria’s ‘get naked’ margaritas, but I tried some at the end of…
I had plans to cook a nice dinner this evening and then life happened. Good life – drinking wine with friends over at West End! I love to sample, so half pours are perfect for me! I got my riesling and then some cava. So delish on a hot night! I came home and was just too tired to cook. So I ate a good old sammie with avocado + bacon – one of my favorite combinations. It’s late and…
Spring weekends in Durham have been splendid. There’s just so much to do! Friday, we enjoyed a Mexican fiesta at Fuqua Friday, and then watched many talented Fuquans perform on Fuqua Idol. I went to the event expecting to hear some decent singers/musicians and left absolutely blown away! My favorite performer (and the overall winner) sang a fantastic acoustic version of Gaga’s Poker Face. Her voice was beyond amazing. And the Fuqua musical was hilarious. On Saturday, I joined my…
This weekend was so.much,fun. I know I say that every weekend, but really, this one was just one of those go-with-the-flow, eat, see friends, and relax in between kind of weekends. Not many people showed up to Fuqua Friday, so we ended up going out to dinner. Sometimes Fuqua Friday can be overwhelming because there’s soo many people to talk to, so it was nice to just eat dinner while chatting with two of our good friends. We tried the…
Christina was nice enough to organize a Triangle Blogging Group and I volunteered to host tonight’s potluck! As can be expected, the spread was wonderful: Mojitos, French and British cheeses, dill and curry tuna salad, Mexican quinoa, chicken salad with golden raisins, cake! I made Angela’s banana split bites! Sadly, I made these yesterday, thinking they would be ok in the freezer, but when they thawed, they got gooey and brown. It’s a great recipe though, because they tasted fantastic…
A rainy weekend made for extra relaxation and lots of couch time. Especially after I had an incredibly productive day on Friday, cleaning like crazy. Due to two weeks of spring break, I hadn’t seen Fuqua friends in quite some time, so we had a fun evening on Friday watching basketball, drinking beer, and eating pizza. Saturday, Matt and I celebrated new friends with a fantastic dinner! I met Anne when Kath was in town for a frosting feast and…
I’m back home in Durham and having my usual vacation withdrawal (I ate a whole bag of jelly beans on the drive home…) We had such a fabulous time and the warm weather got me so pumped for spring! Too bad we woke up to pouring rain and dropping temperatures. Rumor has it, we might even see some snow. But, let’s back up to Friday – Matt and I grabbed dinner at the Bald Head Island Club bar. We had…
I just had a major freak out because I couldn’t find my camera. After thinking about the progression of last night, I retraced my steps in my head and couldn’t figure out what could have happened to it. I mean I only had one beer!!! But, thankfully, I found it, tucked under the covers in my bed. Strange. Anyway, the retrieved pictures of last night’s fabulous feast(s) are below! Super bowl party-hopping is officially my new favorite. I got to…
