The tasting pavilion was definitely the highlight of the Foodbuzz Festival!! My very first stop was the cocktail station for something semi-tropical:) Loved these little cod cakes by a foodie stays fit!! In fact, the Alaska seafood items were some of my favorite tastes of the day. I also enjoyed the apricot chutney on a slice of pork from the girl & the fig. And there were TONS of awesome local cheeses. I was obsessed with the ricotta with a…
Gatherings
After a looong day of travel, I’m here! Kath and I checked into the Galleria Park Hotel in Union Square, where there was a roaring fire for this coldish November day and a swanky lobby. We rested for a quick minute, and then headed out to soak up the streets of San Francisco, since today was really our only moment of free time in the city. We witnessed an interesting protest, complete with a naked wo[man]? I decided that today…
Whew. The past couple of days have been a whirlwind. In fact, the whole month of October has been a blur and it continues this weekend when I head to the west coast for Foodbuzz. I’m trying to savor all the fun events, but time is moving so fast. As my post last night alluded to, my friends and I had margaritas and dinner on Friday night. We then headed to a funky community space/bar called Pinhook for Scaryoke. We…
I wasn’t able to fit in a post last night because I was cleaning like a mad woman. Remember last year when these lovely ladies made the trek to Boston to celebrate life with me? Well, this year, they are coming to Durham! And there’s more of them this time. We’ll be doing a bit of casual wining and dining this evening, and then I’m throwing a Halloween party Saturday night. We’re all going to be party animals, literally. Of course I’ll…
Hey, hey. How’s it going? My day was loooong. Well, all days are long, but this one started at 4:15 this morning when water from the apartment above us decided to leak into our guest bathroom, creating a ruckus as well as a large puddle. Matt and I debated what to do, and since it was too loud to sleep though, we tried to call the emergency maintenance line. Only we couldn’t find the number. Luckily, the leak stopped around…
Friday was fabulous and involved friends, a wine special, and belated birthday celebrations. Matt was out of town, so I enjoyed a much-needed girls night. My friend Emily and I began with a champagne (well, Cava) toast. Everyone kept buying me drinks, which was awesome, but soo not good for consumption. Let’s just say the night ended in me leaving my credit card at the bar and consuming bowls of late-night puffins and emergency coconut water. Thanks to my Fuqua…
Two happy hours makes for a happy night! I had a really nice day at work – the yoga went well and the day was full of productive reflection. The first happy hour was simply a gathering after the office retreat – we unwound with this delicious red (from a student’s winery!) and enjoyed appetizers. Drinking wine at work is fun! My second stop was the Fuqua partners happy hour at G2B Gastropub. I’d never been to G2B, as I…
I’m back in Durham and ready for some sleep! This weekend’s wedding was one of the most beautiful gatherings I’ve ever attended and the food (and cake) were beyond fabulous – best shrimp and grits of my life. I took a ton of pictures to share with you, but now that I’m looking back at them, I’m seeing a smudge on the right of almost all the pictures. Something got on my lens and I didn’t notice on the tiny…
