Monday Fun

Cooking

Happy Monday. Although getting up at 5:45 again didn’t sound too appetizing last night, I will say that I was excited to go back to work! I just love having an organized desk and hearing the little bell on outlook when I get an email:) I used to use outlook in college (when I had a Dell), so it reminds me of long hours at my desk senior year. Yesterday I mentioned that I’d be attending a brunch for incoming…

Celebration Dinner

Uncategorized

I forgot how weekends fly by when you’re working:( I got home Friday evening with intentions to go out on the town, but as soon as I sat down on our new couch and started sipping on this intense Imperial Black Ale, I knew it wasn’t gonna happen. I was exhausted from getting up at 5:4 5. I’m hoping I’ll get used to the new schedule, but I’m guessing Fridays will be low key. The beer was fabulous and we…

An Adult, Officially

Durham Restaurants

Well I survived my first day of a real job, which makes me officially an adult. At one point during the day I was organizing my desk and I stopped and thought I’m getting paid for this! It felt so good to have a desktop computer and voicemail and filing cabinets and other adult things that I never really had at my internship. Space just for me! Now I hope I like the actual work. Although apparently it’s not…

Ping Pong Dance Party

Travel Twenties

Last night was a fantastic finale to an amazing weekend.  After the pool, the girls raided the grocery store to create an extensive spread for dinner.  I was in charge of making the sangria, which turned out more like margaritas.  We used an online recipe that included tequila and I think the portions were off.  It tasted wonderful, it just didn’t taste like sangria:) But it was strong:) Oh, and there was also a homemade…

Travel Twenties

Hi from DC! Thank you all for your sweet comments about my new job! Some of you asked for more details – I will basically be a project manager/program coordinator for a distance graduate program that involves extensive world-wide travel, so I’ll be coordinating travel logistics, managing mailings, helping plan graduations, making recommendations for improvements based on student feedback, and managing work-study students. I’ll be the go-to person for any task that can’t be handled by the program managers and…

Meet Insight. My new commuter bike! Did I mention my workplace is only 3 miles away? Matt got the same one:) Source Since we were in Chapel Hill for the bikes yesterday, we decided to stick around for dinner. I’ve heard wonderful things about Carrburrito, so we gave it a try. Fresh mahi-mahi with all the burrito fixings to go with! It was wonderful, but left me feeling a bit uncomfortable afterwards. There was live music at the neighboring coffee…

Another ‘I Do’

Travel

Saturday’s wedding was delightful. The sun popped out just in the time for the 4 o’clock ceremony (thus the squinty eyes). I really didn’t think Houston was that hot, but I’m sure the men felt differently in their suits. The church was beautiful and I loved the candles in the background. I also think it’s sweet when the whole family goes up to the altar for a blessing. Mr. and Mrs. Monda!! The gals during cocktail hour: I had my…

Oh Hey Houston

Travel

Thursday was mostly dedicated to traveling, but we did have time for a short visit + lunch in Albuquerque before our flight. We walked around the Old Town area, and stumbled across the rattlesnake museum. We didn’t have time to go in, but they had big turtles crawling around outside. And then we spotted the cage labeled “desert scorpion.” I’ve spent most of the trip tiptoeing around and trying to avoid corners in fear of these guys, so when one…

Fourth on the Fifth

Uncategorized

Sorry for the day-late recap of the 4th. I’m still running around, trying to get at least a little bit organized before we leave for our 10-day trip. I had another interview today and two more tomorrow, so I’ve had to spend timing preparing for those rather than unpacking. The holiday was perfectly relaxing though, and it was nice to get away from boxes and furniture assembly for a day. No one in the family really wanted the stress of…
