The Last Day of Spring

Uncategorized

Last night was full of more goodbyes:( My wonderful supervisor took us our for dinner and drinks and we were luckily enough to get a patio seat at Dillon’s on a beautiful evening. I had two glasses of one of my go-to rieslings (Saint M) with dinner. I’m picky about white wine, but on a hot day it can be so refreshing. The table shared some of the biggest sweet potato fries I have ever seen. These were awesome! I…

Fruity and Giddy

Uncategorized

Happy Monday. I was just giddy last night with the thought that I didn’t have to get up and go to work today! I slept till 9 (!), worked hard on a cover letter all morning, and went to noon time spinning. And the best part was coming home and being about to make whatever I felt like for lunch! I made a big old salad with banana chips, cherries, strawberries, and blue cheese. So fresh and summery. Plus this…

Celebration

Uncategorized

Yesterday afternoon I said goodbye to the high school and hello to the bar:)       Let’s just say the beers were going down fast. I had a Sam Brick Red, Abita Purple Haze, and a Long Trail Ale over the course of the afternoon. I hung out with my co-interns as well as some new people and there were lots of good laughs. It was a really an amazing afternoon. Then, Matt arrived and bought me a mojito! A group…

Hi and Bye

Uncategorized

I loved this book! I actually finished it on the stairclimber at 7 this morning, so it was fresh on my mind for the discussion. So many interesting things to contemplate!    Of course, book club included snacks – guacamole, peeta (!) and hummus, tomato + feta dip, cheeses, salad… and I made bean dip. I used a different salsa this time and it was too watery, but the flavor was still good. This wine was fab. And how cute…

Back to Back

Uncategorized

Today was looong, but for a very good reason! I had an afternoon party to attend (to bid farewell to three employees who are retiring my from department at my internship) and then a final seminar dinner at which I turned in all of my paperwork for my national certification as a school psychologist. The first party had lots of delicious food… I had two tastes of white wines, and decided I’d rather have a beer. There’s something about an…

There and Back

I’m writing to you from the bus from Hyannis back to Boston! We’ve had a horrendous day of travel, but the weekend really couldn’t have been more perfect, so I knew something would probably go wrong on the way home. Despite arriving for the ferry 30 minutes ahead of time, there was an insane line for the first come, first serve boat. But since we had been assured that the 750-person ferry had only filled up a few times in…

Local beer and burgers, festive games and fun new friends, cocktails on the beach, a perfect sunset, and plenty of dancing, made for a fabulous day on the island. I’m headed to the beach to start day 2. See ya.…

Island Time

After a lot of traffic and a foggy ferry, we made it to Nantucket around 8:30 last night. We had an easy going, but fun night at a bar that ended with fresh baked goods from Oliver’s (our host, and Matt’s good friend from college) mom. What a perfect night! Today has been very festive. After a quick jog, we headed into town for mid-morning cocktails. Someone in our group knew the bartender so this rum punch was strooong. Day-drinking…

Latin Kitchen Love

Uncategorized

Ladies and gentlemen, I bring you The Most Amazing Cocktail. This was avocado pureed with lime, pineapple, coconut, and rum. Simple is beautiful. So, last night, we joined friends for dinner at Orinoco, a latin kitchen in Brookline (and in the South End). Everything about the evening, from the food to the friends was perfect. I started with the avocado heaven and Matt and I shared fried plantains with sun-dried tomato vinaigrette. They were awesome, but I think the regular…
