Look at this cute usher I found at the wedding! This weekend’s wedding was held at a Santa Monica beach resort – there’s really nothing more beautiful than the ocean as the backdrop for a wedding. The only problem was the cold California breeze. The groomsmen are all Matt’s friends from Davidson. I drool over a man in a black tux…. The bride was breathtaking!!! The kiss… The girls warmed up with cocktails while the boys posed for pics. I…
Gatherings
Whew…that was a fast trip, but it couldn’t have gone more smoothly. And the scenery was just beautiful. I actually just walked in the door and I’m a bit overwhelmed with trying to unpack and get right to bed, so I’ll just leave you with some snaps of Friday night’s rehearsal dinner. We had the pleasure of enjoying a four course meal at one of Wolfgang Puck’s oldest restaurants, and one of the very first examples of Asian fusion food…
This evening the weekend festivities begin! My parents are arriving and we’re going to get amazing Ethiopian food at Addis Red Sea tonight. Matt’s parents and sister are arriving on Friday and all of us will be hanging out and enjoying Boston for the weekend. Until then, I’m going to spend the afternoon preparing for a graduation gathering we are hosting tomorrow. I’ve always loved entertaining and I hope to do it a lot more of it next year when…
Headache number two hit this afternoon, but I’m trying to remain upbeat! It was pouring today, so babysitting was a bit of a drag, but, I got to leave about 30 minutes early to attend a graduation reception that my department was hosting. You never know with these things, but there was actually a really good spread of cheeses, fruits, and little bites as well as a strawberry shortcake. I had a little bit of everything, but abstained from alcohol…
Ahhh, I had a fabulous weekend. Friday night, Matt and I took it easy and had a few beers with new Fuqua friends and then ate a late dinner at the famous Ten Tables in Jamaica Plain. I was able to get a new camera, thanks to the accident protection plan I bought at Best Buy, but it wasn’t up and running for picture taking on Friday night. The restaurant was adorable though, and I had a great burger. And,…
So, back to the weekend? Yes please! Friday started with dinner and beer at Parish Cafe in Boston. Matt and I looove this place and Friday’s dinner was an example of why. I had an awesome Hazed and Infused and a special Berkshire Brewing Co. Pale ale that didn’t taste a bit like a pale ale. Both were lighter and thus went well with my enormous focaccia sandwich stuffed with portobellos, casa de roma cheese, and walnut-parsley pesto (with…
Words cannot describe how much I love beer. Matt and I are obviously ‘friends’ of Harpoon, so we entered our names into the invitation pot for a tasting event this evening. We were lucky enough to be chosen to attend the tasting for the new 100 barrel series: Island Creek Oyster Stout. We arrived a bit late, but there were basically unlimited tastings of the Oyster Stout and other Harpoon beers. I had three “tastes” of the Stout in honor…
It’s late, so I’ll make this one quick and let the pictures do the talking. PS: sorry about the blur on the right of some of the pics; I think I was doing a little too much nibbling with the camera and got a smudge on the lens:) So, it was my turn to host book club. Being the lover of wine and cheese that I am (and given that Sarah’s Key was set in France), I decided to make…
