Girls Day

Travel

Yesterday got off to a late start, but we still managed to fit quite a bit into the day.  My friend Lizzie and I started the morning off with a walk around Bethesda.  We grabbed coffees at a cute shop and split a chocolate chip pumpkin muffin that I brought from Great Harvest.  This cake in a store window caught my eye immediately; I’m obsessed with fancy cakes (and buttercream!) so Lizzie suggested we get a little something.…

Dinner and Dancin’

Travel

Mornin’ I got to DC around six and hung out with one of my best friends from high school for a bit.  Then she helped me drag my suitcase up to Cleveland Park to meet some college friends at this awesome little cafe. We didn’t sit down until almost 9:30 so we were very ready to eat. A variety of breads arrived… And we ordered a bottle of really flavorful white wine. I just went to the restaurant’s web site,…

Whisky from ’18

Travel

Hello again, After a nice walk through the mall this afternoon (it was still raining , so we couldn’t go for a walk outside), we reconvened at my Aunt and Uncle’s house yet again.  I started my evening by tasting a couple of different wines, but the Molly Dooker Shiraz was my favorite again tonight. On the menu was my Grandpa’s very favorite meal: southern fried chicken with macaroni and cheese (and salad).  Ok, so my pictures are terrible, so…

I woke up this morning to the sound of rain. I managed to fit in a quick stint on a creaky elliptical in an attempt to wake myself up and clear my mind. Matt went and got us a makeshift breakfast from some secret club room that my Mom had access to. Today I will remember and celebrate  the life of my loving grandfather, Ernest Kiehne…

Boston to Baltimore

Travel

Matt and I arrived safe and sound in Baltimore and headed straight to my Aunt and Uncle’s house for a mini family reunion. It was so nice to finally be with my Grandmother! Of course we started the evening with Manhattans in honor of my Grandfather.  Mine was a bit strong so my cousin added a splash of ginger ale and cherry juice.  I also had a glass of red wine  called Molly Dooker (I think?).  It was so bold…

The Perfect Party

I’m so excited to have readers!!  Thank you all for your sweet comments and thanks for the shout-out Kath.  It’s so nice to have some encouragement when starting something new. So remember when I said that I can’t stay up on Friday nights anymore?  Well I also can’t sleep in on Sunday mornings anymore:(  After tossing and turning for the past hour, I just decided to give up on sleeping and blog. I woke up with that feeling that something…

Shakespeare on the Common

Good morning! I’m currently enjoying a bowl of strawberry yogurt flakes and watching Ellen.  I only have three more weeks until I begin my full time internship, so I’m trying to relax as much as possible!  I’m really going to miss having time in the mornings because I’m one of those people who takes a while to get going after I wake up. One of the ways I’m trying to bring balance to my life is by doing more enjoyable…
