Wedding Weekly: Music

Wedding

The music at our wedding is VERY important to me. I’ve always imagined having a really classy band that could play all the good wedding songs at the beginning and then awesome versions of today’s hits once the crowd gets going. Sadly, when I realized that a wedding on an island (my wedding is a small gathering on Bald Head Island, NC for those who don’t know!) came with some extra expenses (i.e. delivery fees, transportation, ect), my dream band…

Delightful

Durham Restaurants

Am I just consuming a lot of food or is my life being consumed by food!! More delicious tastes at happy hour this evening, starting with a Malbec (is that all I order these days?). When there’s only Six Plates, you’ve got to try them all, right? Lamby joes – good, but sloppy:) Truffle fries (aka McDonald’s fries with fancy flavors). This is the only thing I don’t LOVE at Six Plates. Farmhand foods beef sliders with chapel hill creamery…

Dessert Bar

Uncategorized

You guys, I just went to a Fuqua Partners (that means significant others of business school students) cook-out and the desserts there were fabulous!  I obv. brought cupcakes. It’s just so much more fun bringing sweets to a potluck and pictures of hamburgers are boring, so here’s what I had tastes of: I think the pumpkin cheesecake bar and the peanut butter rice crispy treat were my favorites. I may have visions of sugarplums in my dreams tonight!…

CampOut No. 2

Durham Restaurants

This weekend was Duke’s annual graduate student campout weekend, where students have the opportunity to be entered into a lottery for basketball tickets if they make it to every ‘check-in’ in a 36 hour period. Last year was a lot of fun and Matt got tickets…this year he wasn’t so lucky:( Friday night, I actually didn’t join Matt, and instead met up with the girls for a [pear and brie] pizza and wine night. I was simply too tired after…

Tastes of Chocolate

Uncategorized

I’m having a bit of trouble sleeping this week, so I’m gonna make this quick so I can hit the sack:( — This evening, I met the fabulous girls from the Triangle blogging group at Videri for a chocolate tasting! Videri is a small chocolate factory that opened last year. We learned about the entire chocolate making process – who knew it has to age for a month? Also, our tour guide wraps every single bar by herself! Impressive. The…

West Elm: Tastes & Trinkets

Shopping

Hey Friends, After another sleepless night, I crashed this afternoon. But I was quite proud of myself because I still managed 30 minutes on the elliptical. And then I felt better. Which was a good thing, because I wanted to attend the West Elm opening party at the mall. They had a private preview before the grand opening tomorrow. Given that Matt and I will be registering soon (!!), I dragged him there to get him into the shopping-for-the-home mindset.…

Rockpile Syrah & Southern Specialties

Uncategorized

The summer is sizzlin’ down, so Matt’s company had an end-of-year celebration for the interns. Only most people were out of town, so a few of us had to eat all the food!! The dinner was hosted by the Horseradish Grill in Buckhead, where every single thing I tasted was fabulous. Appetizers were fried green tomatoes with pecans, goat cheese, and remoulade as well as NC style pulled pork on a cornmeal pancake with slaw and bbq sauce. Knowing that…

I’m back in the ATL for the final stretch, but going back to NC this weekend made me sooo ready to get back to Durham and regular life! If you are just tuning in, I traveled home to go my sister’s baby shower. She’s due in just a few short weeks!!! I went home on Thursday night, which means I got to go wedding dress shopping with my mom on Friday!! No purchases yet, but def. found some dresses that…

Boston Bridesmaid

Travel

Wow. What a weekend! I traveled to Boston to be a bridesmaid in my friend’s wedding. Everything appeared to go exactly as planned and I had a blast: Friday night, the groom’s parents hosted a lovely rehearsal dinner at the Nashoba Valley Winery. The setting was beautiful and the food fantastic! I sipped on red wine, but the beer was very tasty too! Dinner was a full three course meal and the winery used a lot of fresh, local ingredients!…
