We are back from Hilton Head and I’m ready for a productive week at home. Emerson had her first day of camp today, and although she was very nervous at drop-off, she was squealing with excitement when I picked her up. After two weeks of back to back travel, I was so thankful for some time at home to get my life together. I’m also looking forward to some healthy eating, as there’s not much room in my stomach these…
Gluten Free
Whew. What a wonderful whirlwind of a wedding weekend! We flew to Philadephia early Friday for my sister-in-law’s (Matt’s younger sister) wedding! While the early morning flight went smoothly, the airport was packed. In an attempt to avoid bag check fees, we brought too many bags, and ended up leaving one of Matt’s at the crowded gate. Arg. Because it was our fault, we couldn’t figure out who to contact and no one at the airport would answer the phone.…
We are thrilled to be expecting another GIRL!!! I think Emerson and Matt were rooting for a boy, but we are all just thankful for a normal anatomy scan. And I’m excited to reuse all my girl stuff. Plus, sisters!!! Our gluten free gender reveal carrot cake was made by the talented Batachmaker and was seriously one of the best cakes (gf or glutenous) I’ve had in my entire life. That cream cheese icing!!!! Beautycounter Giveaway Congrats to Courtney (ckafarian@gmail.com)…
Thank you all for your lovely comments on my announcement. I love hearing from you guys, and a lot of the comments about being pregnant with a toddler versus having a newborn with a toddler were reassuring that I’ve got this:) — We got lots of April showers over the past three days, but that didn’t stop us from having a fun weekend. Sadly, the neighborhood Easter egg hunt was cancelled, but we still hosted the brunch after-party we had…
We’ve had all the visitors in town these past two weeks. Matt’s parents were here last weekend, and although we had gross rain, we had a great time lounging and eating and catching up. Emerson adores her grandparents and even got to spend an evening with them while Matt and I had an awesome date night at Haberdish. This weekend, Kath and her two boys came down from Charlottesville, and my parents came up on their way home from a…
We got these Serena & Lily dining chairs to replace the uncomfortable old wooden ones that came with our table. We opted for outdoor bistro chairs because they are so much cheaper than upholstered chairs and figured they’d be kid friendly. This video made me smile (and want to get up and dance). I tried this Beautycounter mascara and this popular mascara, and ended up just going back to old faithful, Lights, Camera, Action because they were both bad.…
A few things I’m loving lately: Pepita salsa – this salsa from Trader Joe’s makes the best crockpot chicken. Just two ingredients and a major upgrade from regular salsa crockpot chicken. Collaborating with other independent schools – I’ve had a couple of calls/visits with schools this week as part of my research, and it’s been so fun to hear about what other independent schools are doing in terms of social and emotional learning. Everyone has just been so nice and…
Hello, Sorry it’s been a while. After I blogged last week, Emerson got worse, and it turns out she had an ear infection. Poor girl. I’m still learning how to balance my new work load on days when Emerson is home or doesn’t nap for long, but I’ve caught up these past three days. Luckily, I’m working for some lovely ladies who know me well and are understanding if I don’t accomplish as much in a week. My parents arrived…
We had a relaxing and fun-filled weekend, which was nice after a sad week. Matt lost a classmate and was glad to have a distraction when we hosted a taco night for one of his former co-workers + wife. I made margaritas for everyone in an effort to quickly use up some of our liquor. We picked up brisket from the local butcher and bought all the fixins’ for some epic tacos. We need to do this more often! It was such…
