I’m finally getting around to writing a post about our trip to The Cloister at Sea Island! When we first booked this trip, we dreamed of a post-covid, vaccinated vacation where we could return to normalcy. We used Meg to find the hotel and book the trip, and decided to splurge a little bit since we haven’t stayed at a hotel/resort in 18 months! Little did we know that Delta would rear it’s ugly head. We debated cancelling many times,…

I’m so excited we’ll be living within driving distance to some mild winter weather! I’m already thinking about a road trip to Charleston or Savannah for a long weekend this year. Here are some other ideas for places I’ve either visited or dreamed about visiting: Key West, FL This was our winter trip last year and it was fabulous. It wasn’t warm enough in February to do a lot of water activities, but it’s such a cool destination and gets…
We’re home from Portugal, and it’s been fun reflecting on the trip these past few days. I like planning trips that have two different parts, so we headed to Lisbon after the beach portion of our trip. Although I would have loved to stay at the Pine Cliffs the whole time, we wanted to see some of the sights and experience a bit more Portuguese culture. We stopped in the town of Albufeira on our travel day, and after walking…
Hello! I’m popping in from Portugal to share a few photos from the first half of our trip. We’re staying at the amazing Pine Cliffs resort in the Algarve region, and have been blown away by this property! There were some mixed reviews when we researched, but we have loved everything about the resort. It’s one of the most peaceful places I’ve ever visited and the grounds are immaculate. Plus, the weather has been absolutely gorgeous. Emerson did well on…
It’s no secret that I’m travel obsessed. A lot of the fun for me is the planning process. It’s so fun, in fact, that I sometimes research and plan trips that I never actually take. I thought I’d share some of these ideas with you guys, in case anyone is looking for inspiration for summer (also, just thinking about warmer weather helps me get through winter!) Lake Tahoe I’ve always wanted to go to Lake Tahoe because of the combination…
Our trip to Key West was not only fun, but actually relaxing. This got me thinking about what made this Florida trip so much better than the last Florida trip when Emerson was 6 months old. Below are a couple of thoughts on what made our vacation enjoyable with an energetic 15-month-old in tow. -I used to have the mentality that accommodations are not that important because I didn’t spend much time in the room. Now? Accommodations are the most…
The second half of our vacation was even better than the first because it warmed up into the 70’s. We weren’t sure if it would be hot enough for the beach when we planned the trip, but it was perfectly pleasant for sunning. Our first beach stop was Sunset Key. Guests at the Margaritaville can buy a day pass to visit the beach on the private resort island. After Emerson’s nap, we headed down to the dock in front of our…
Happy February! As you may have seen on Instagram, we took a trip to Key West and had a fabulous time – perhaps our most relaxing trip with baby yet! We stayed right in town at the Margaritaville Hotel (formerly the Westin). We chose this hotel because of the location, newly renovated rooms, and the one-bedroom suites. As we learned from last year’s winter escape, laying in a dark hotel bed and quietly eating pizza while baby sleeps is not…
Part II of our Maui trip was absolutely fabulous. Emerson adjusted to the time change and we all felt great! On the short drive from Kapalua to Wailea, we stopped at the Maui Ocean Center. Emerson was protesting a nap, and absolutely loved looking into the fish tanks. She’s just starting to point, and would laugh when she saw something in a tank. I loved seeing he giant rays and the sea turtles. We made our way down to the…
