Steamboat: The Food

Travel

Well, we’ve been eating for 4 days and I’ve got lots to share with you. A big draw for us to vacation in Colorado was all the beer! I enjoyed a summer wheat beer from Odell and an amber from the Alaskan Brewing Co., while enjoying great view of the cute Yampa River. Happy hours seem to be big here and you can easily get a pint for $2! We stayed in a studio room at the Trailhead Lodge, which…

Last Moments in ATL

Uncategorized

I was a little sad leaving Atlanta today, but Matt and I savored our last weekend together: Saturday, we got lunch at a little restaurant in Midtown and knocked out some work at the coffee shop. I just love how inexpensive the eats are down there. We shared this giant salad and a pizza for just $12! As we were walking around Midtown, we saw a sign for an open house. And since I looove looking at real estate, we…

Rockpile Syrah & Southern Specialties

Uncategorized

The summer is sizzlin’ down, so Matt’s company had an end-of-year celebration for the interns. Only most people were out of town, so a few of us had to eat all the food!! The dinner was hosted by the Horseradish Grill in Buckhead, where every single thing I tasted was fabulous. Appetizers were fried green tomatoes with pecans, goat cheese, and remoulade as well as NC style pulled pork on a cornmeal pancake with slaw and bbq sauce. Knowing that…

Dallas Friends

Travel

Our last day in Dallas was spent with friends! Matt’s best bud from high school and his wife Beccah have a 2-week-old baby boy. Welcome to the world, William! William was actually two weeks early, so it was fun visiting with him on basically his due date. He was soo tiny and fragile. Made me a bit nervous:) And reminded me that I’m going to be an aunt very very soon!!!! Saturday evening, one of my college roommates came out…

The Iberian Pig

Amazing Restaurants

I’ve got another restaurant experience to tell you about. It was so good that I just have to share! Matt parents took us to the Iberian Pig in Decatur when they were visiting. ALL the tapas were devine, so there’s really no need for me to tell you how delicious, fabulous, unique, mouth-watering each dish was. I’ll just leave you with the description of what I tried, and know that any positive adjective would probably fit:) Drunken goat cheese (soaked…

Happy Birthday, Sad Holiday

Life

I love that there was a weekend in the middle of this week! Tuesday was Matt’s birthday, and since we love nothing more than eating out, I took him out! I had made reservations at a neighborhood restaurant, but once it started to pour, I changed our plans at the last minute. I figured since we had to drive, we might as well venture out of the neighborhood. So we headed to Rathbun’s in the Old Fourth Ward. We stopped…

Two Urban Licks

Uncategorized

Last weekend, Matt’s company hosted a dinner for the summer interns. I didn’t find out where we were going until the last minute – Two Urban Licks. I had literally just made a reservation there for Matt’s birthday, so I was back to the drawing board for birthday restaurants, but pretty excited to get to experience it! The restaurant was in a huge renovated warehouse, so it was very open and urban with exposed ducts and windows only on one…

Atlanta Stay-Cation

Cooking

Happy holiday week! Is anyone else having the heat wave? I’ve just about sweat through everything I own. So, back to the weekend. I arrived back in Atlanta on Thursday with my parents, feeling quite excited about the recent development (thanks for the comments:)) Matt was working late, so I took my parents to a New Orleans oyster house. We sat outside, pretending to be on Bourbon St. The roasted oysters were great! I hate the raw ones because I…

Half Pounder, With Buttercream

Amazing Restaurants

That epic dinner on Saturday? It took place at Leon’s in Decatur, a gem that many of you recommended! T’was my restaurant soul mate. Why? Because there was outdoor seating, old garage doors that open in the summer, a long beer list, reasonable prices, a strong menu, a casual atmosphere, a feeling of excitement, and a great dessert. Leon’s has it all. I started with a solid red wine. I think it was a tempranillo, or something full and earthy.…
