Oh hey, and happy belated Easter. Due to the holiday, I had Friday and Monday off from school, so I traveled east to Virginia to see my sister! Of course, my parents drove up from NC, and Matt’s family from MD, so we had a big gathering! Friday night, my parents offered to babysit, so we headed out on the town. We started at a cute bar called Alley Light, where we all ordered Bourbon! We moved on to Maya…

We’re back from a wonderful few days in San Juan, Puerto Rico. We had a lot of rainy weather, but when the sun was out, the beach was gorgeous! We stayed at the Marriott with Matt’s rewards points and we were really happy with it. The resort is right on the beach in an area called Condado, with lots of restaurants and shops within walking distance. We were high up on the 12th floor with a view of the pool…
Our trip to Charleston happened to fall over Valentine’s day, and even a month in advance, I had a hard time getting a reservation at a [reasonable] restaurant. We finally decided on an adorable little hole-in-the wall called R Kitchen. However, I failed to gather from the website and reviews, that the restaurant is only a bar counter. So when we arrived and realized we wouldn’t be able to sit with our friends, we decided to go elsewhere. We were…
I had the pleasure of traveling to Charleston this weekend for my winter break! Matt and I met our good friends from Boston for a short getaway. While we picked Charleston because we thought it’d be warmish (soo cold for the south), we really wanted to go there to eat! Our friends love food as much as we do, so we did a lot of sharing! After lovely drinks on a heated roof deck called Stars, we headed to FIG…
In addition to wine tasting in Mendoza, we spent our evenings walking around the quant city, exploring restaurants, and ringing in the new year! Most things were closed on new years day, and since it was our last day of vacation, we were happy to go running in the city park and relax by the pool. By the way, we stayed in the Park Hyatt. Although the rooms were basic and dated, I would recommend it for the service and…
After a few days in Buenos Aires, our Argentina adventure continued in Mendoza. Mendoza is a smaller city at the foothills of the Andes mountains, and it definitely felt more charming and welcoming than the big city vibe of BA. We had 3 full days in Mendoza, so we booked wine tours to 2 nearby wine regions: the Uco Valley and Lujan de Cuyo. Our first day was spent in the Uco Valley, about 1.5 hours from Mendoza. A note…
Matt and I spent nine days traveling through Argentina – five days in Buenos Aires, and then four in Mendoza. We arrived in BA early on Christmas Eve. I’m glad I did some research before the trip, because I discovered that most of the restaurants on my list would be closed for the Christmas holidays. Looking back, I’m actually happy this happened because I discovered Uco, a wonderful little restaurant at the Fierro Hotel in the Palmermo Soho neighborhood. All…
Hello and happy hump day. It’s a cold one here in Dallas – I forgot how miserable the 30’s feel. Good thing it doesn’t get much worse than this in Texas. I had a staff presentation this afternoon, and it seems that any time I have something big at the very end of the day, I get so so tired. I ditched my plan to go to a Shockwave class, and went home to to the couch, my version of…
Hello! How is it Thursday again? The work weeks are already flying by! We had our open house tonight – lots of nervous parents and lots of questions. And man, people sure dress to the nines for open houses these days:) But on to the fun stuff. We were lucky enough to get to spend Labor Day weekend in wine country. My sister and I have been planning this trip for well over a year – I can’t believe it’s…
